Ben Bradlee talks of 'The Kid', Katelyn McCarter of Wondrous Music | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Katelyn McCarter, a Four-time Music Award Winner has captured the attention of the industry. From a young age, Katelyn has taken every opportunity to explore her natural musical impulses. Katelyn's love for performance and talent was apparent to her family who supported Katelyn's creative inclinations, encouraging her to study voice, piano and dance. She graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Music in 2012. Katelyn is much more than her stunning, unforgettable voice. She is an active member of her community, staying involved with anti bullying programs, non-profit concerts and performing at events where she can be an example to the young. Her selfless efforts stem from her desire to serve God through her music and in her daily life activities. Ben Bradlee Jr. is the author of the New York Times best-selling biography The Kid: The Immortal Life of Ted Williams, published by Little, Brown on December 3, 2013. He spent 25 years with The Boston Globe, 10 years as a reporter and 15 as editor. As a reporter, he served on the Spotlight Team at the State House bureau and as the paper's roving national correspondent. He covered the 1988 presidential campaign of Michael Dukakis and also reported overseas for The Globe. Bradlee has written three previous books, The Ambush Murders, the case of a black activist accused and ultimately acquitted after three trials of killing two white policemen, Prophet of Blood, the story of polygamous cult leader Ervil LeBaron and Guts and Glory: The Rise and Fall of Oliver North. A graduate of Colby College, Bradlee served in the Peace Corps in Afghanistan. On his return to the United States he went to work as a reporter for the Riverside Press-Enterprise, remaining there until mid 1975. Bradlee has three children. He and his wife Janice live outside Boston.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Join us this Thursday (April 10- 9 PM Eastern time) for a great show. I am really psyched to be talking baseball with Ben Bradlee, Jr. His masterful biography of my childhood hero, Ted Williams, has been a pleasure to read.

Egypt’s rising-star rappers predated the revolution that ousted President Hosni Mubarak, but the turmoil since has left a huge youth population searching for voices that address issues they care about.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

Music is one of the most powerful communication devices. Coupled with mass media and the Internet, it can help shape societies -- for good or ill. There is always a mix of the musician's world view and his/her personal goals. This is fascinating stuff.
