Carson Confirms He Believes Pyramids Were Built To Store Grain

Carson Confirms He Believes Pyramids Were Built To Store Grain | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
Dr. Ben Carson on Wednesday night confirmed his belief that the pyramids in Egypt were built for grain storage by Joseph, the Biblical figure who helped the Egyptians survive famine, even though archaeologists have concluded that the pyramids were built as tombs for the pharaohs.

"My own personal theory is that Joseph built the pyramids to store grain," Carson said in a 1998 speech surfaced by Buzzfeed News on Wednesday. "Now all the archeologists think that they were made for the pharaohs’ gra
Kenneth Weene's insight:

First, forget archaeology because he has a Bible. Then does this mean Joseph was not one of the very first and few Israelite but the first to take Jews as slaves to build these granaries? Or perhaps there was no slavery in Egypt and Moses was a fraud, like Mr. Carson. The man is clearly an "idjut".

Mummy mask could hold oldest known Gospel

Mummy mask could hold oldest known Gospel | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
A fragment of the Gospel According to Mark dating from 90 AD was reused as a burial mask for a mummy, say scientists.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

If you love archeology and Biblical history, and I do, this is a great piece. What the actual text may say is not yet public, but my guess is it won't be a blockbuster. Still what a fascinating find. Kenneth Weene's insight:

A fascinating bit of archeology and Biblical history. Did Jesus mean to refer to himself as God? If so, then it was assuredly blasphemy.

One of earliest known copies of Ten Commandments sees the light of day

One of earliest known copies of Ten Commandments sees the light of day | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
The fragile, 2,000-year-old fragment of the Dead Sea Scrolls will make a brief appearance in Jerusalem.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

It is interesting to me that the only quoted commandment given in the article is actually not the same as our modern Biblical version. "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you." is how we receive it but it says "so you will have a long and healthy life", a small but significant difference. One establishes the primacy of Israel as a political entity and the other the primacy of life as God's gift. One can only wonder at when and why this divergence took place. Was this a political statement by the people making this particular copy, or did other scribes change the text as response to the diaspora?

Bible Verses That Atheists Love | enjoy yourself | Scoop.it
We asked prominent atheists what parts of the Bible they find inspiring and beautiful.
Kenneth Weene's insight:

My own favorite, "Make a ioyfull noise unto (the Lord) (nature), all the earth: make a loud noise, rejoice, and sing praise. (Psalms 94:4)

Do you have a favorite that those who do not believe in God (or at least not the Biblical God) might enjoy?
