"Following the visual I posted here a couple of weeks ago featuring the differences between formative and summative assessments, somebody shared with the link to this Listly list that comprises dozens of interesting web tools to create online assessments. I have already reviewed some of the tools mentioned in this list in separate posts here in Educational Technology and Mobile Learning but I also found out new tools  I did not know about. I am re-sharing the whole list created below and I invite you to spend some time sifting through its content. Enjoy"

This is a great list, we have used several of these in the past, but Socrative and Google  Forms are our favs. I would like to throw answergarden.ch in here as well, not so mich for quizzes, but more for brainstorming and quick feedback.

Pronunciation animations - Cambridge University Press English Language Teaching | English pronunciation | Scoop.it

Shona Whyte:

This site has animations with sound to help learners with sounds (diphthongs), stress (word and sentence stress), and intonation (rising and falling intonation).  It also has phonemic charts for English vowels and consonants - click on the symbol to hear the sound.

Useful for even beginning learners, and a good resource for checking general rules (e.g., word stress) and the phonemic inventory of English.  Teacher can supplement these basic rules with additional examples and more detailed rules for pronunciation.

2. Une langue mondiale : *Pré-lecture : Posez les questions suivantes à vos élèves :
- Selon vous, est-ce que le français est une langue très parlée dans le monde ?
- Dans quelles organisations politiques le français est-il utilisé comme langue officielle ?
*Lecture : par groupe de deux, vos élèves vont lire l’introduction et la partie intitulée « une langue mondiale » de cet article et répondre aux questions suivantes :
a. Le français fait partie des 10 langues les plus utilisées au niveau mondial. V/F (vrai)
b. Le français et l’anglais sont les seules langues qui existent sur chaque continent. V/F (vrai)

Mathieu De Sutter's curator insight, March 28, 2014 6:11 AM

La France veut protéger leur langue. Un des manières pour faire ça est par donner des lessons pour mettre l'accent sur l'importance chez des étudiants.
Et ils ont raison, le français est important, dans la France, la Belgique, Luxembourg etc...
Donc ce n'est que normal que le français est une langue souvent utilisée dans les entreprises.

How to download audio from youtube videos (No programs needed)

Jim Lerman's insight:

This seems to be about the simplest way to download (or extract) the audio from any online video, YouTube or otherwise. The tutorial was created by a 12 or 13 year old young man. The video part is right on, some of the audio is a little hard to fully understand. All in all however, after I viewed half a dozen different tutorials on this topic, this was the easiest and least complicated way to do it.

Utiles pour encourager les élèves à écrire et créer des histoires.

Alfredo Corell's curator insight, March 23, 2014 12:49 PM

Using comic strips is one powerful way to get students excited and motivated about the writing act. Students love to interact with visuals and tools such as the ones listed below will empower them to do just that. Using these comic strip generators , students will get  to engage in conversations using cartoonic characters and build stories and share their works with each other.

Ness Crouch's curator insight, March 28, 2014 7:45 PM

Pronuncian brings English pronunciation to the forefront, teaching you online and at your own pace how to speak with an American accent.
