Personalizing learning starts with the learner. It is not personalized instruction. Students drive their learning. The teacher guides students to reach their learning goals.

iPads can’t improve learning without good teaching Pt 1

iPads can’t improve learning without good teaching Pt 1 | ENGLISH LEARNING 2.0 | Scoop.it

The kind of shift in learning the iPad (and other tablets) can initiate is dependent on good teaching practice and preparation. The iPad has an app for just about anything. Students will be able to work out how to use the app. They do that quicker than us. As teachers, its our responsibility to show them what to use it for. It’s why we have to think of what we want them to do as learners, not what can the iPad do. We have to make the iPad suit the learning, not make the learning suit the iPad to justify having it. So think of the skills you want your students to develop and then work out if the iPad can improve that skill. If it doesn’t, don’t use it.

77 Educational Games and Game Builders

77 Educational Games and Game Builders | ENGLISH LEARNING 2.0 | Scoop.it

I'm often asked if I know of any games for subject "x," "y," or "z" for a particular grade level or age group. My answer is usually yes, but I need to search my archives. Therefore, I've gone through my archives and dug up many of games that I've mentioned over the last four years that are still active online. Consider this my humongous list of educational games.

Some good and great apps for note taking/studying. Disappointed that one of the ideas was to print paper calendars and share with the students. NOT a 21st century skill.
