What is a Flipped Classroom? In the English Classroom? Part I « The Tech Classroom

ELA teachers soon realized that it is very difficult to adopt the traditional flipped method to abstract thought. How do you teach novels in video? How do you teach writing in video? A few of us wrestled with it throughout last school year and admittedly failed more often than succeeded. The biggest success, however, was that we realized we can’t do it alone. We need communities of brains to help us understand how to use current technology to accelerate and deepen what we can teach in the classroom.

PicView - Add Voice to Images

PicView is a free app which enables you to add voice tags to the images you create on your iPhone or iPad. The images can then be sent to people. It looks from the reviews like there are still a fee bugs with this, but still worth investigating as a way to create an audio visual dictionary.

Teachem is a great platform for pulling together videos from around YouTube and forming them into lessons. The platform allows you to create questions for specific points in each video and students can watch and take notes. Useful platform for creating flipped learning that does a bit more than lecture.
