Inquiring Minds Want to Know! Tools to Help Students Learn How to Learn

Inquiring Minds Want to Know! Tools to Help Students Learn How to Learn | English Class | Scoop.it

Helping students learn how to learn: That’s what most educators strive for, and that’s the goal of inquiry learning. That skill transfers to other academic subject areas and even to the workplace where employers have consistently said that they want creative, innovative and adaptive thinkers.

Audrey's curator insight, October 1, 2013 1:47 PM

Tools to help learning are everywhere. No educational instiitution should limit learning to reading, writing, arithmetic, and science in confined spaces. The arts, cooking, games, languages, debating, gardening, playing cards, flower arranging expands the brain as much as everything else we learn.

Education and learning do not belong to schools, colleges or universities. There are lot of spaces in city buildings housing banks  where youngsters can spend part of their week learning to add and multiply real figures.

How about teaching youngsters about healthy nutrition by spending half terms on farms. Nutrition incorporates science, biology and expands the brain.........................

Say Keng Lee's curator insight, October 7, 2013 3:09 AM

That's right! Inquiry learning works best on longer, deep dive projects when students have to create something of their own out of what they’ve found.
