The refreshing part of this video is that I actually get to see him explain his own theories. Krashen is a very well recognized researcher and theorist in language acquisition. Another foundational piece of language theory and teaching methods reasoning.

These acronyms actually represent entire groups of people and technology tools that have been applied to the develoment of language. It is a good list of references for resources on integration of technology into a language classroom.

This article is from cornell university bu references a study done in europe which emphasizes the clumping of words as a reference point for how language is learned. This is reported to be distinctive of a phrase system of syntax acquisition. The research is referenced at the end of the article.

The New York Times article listed on this facebook page offers an intriguing interdisciplinary research concept. The research reviews sound development in birds and compares it to sound development in babies. There are research resources on the Measuring Behavior facebook page, and these can also be great resources for many other areas of research.

This blog asks interesting questions about both language acquisition programs and ccss. While there is definitely some bias to the conclusions there is a lot of research to support conclusions that have been given.

This interview discusses a doctoral study performed for ELL students. The salient issues arise from factors that challenge ELL students. Through the interview there are suggestions for effectively helping ELL students. Two standout comments to me were pertaining to our opinion of literacy in the 21st century and the amount of language that is learned outside of the classroom as in social networks.

Fantastic responses from ELL teachers about preparing for the common core. These suggestions highlight the interdisciplinary nature of the common core and the development of lifelong learning skills which will definitely demand practical proficiency from ell students. This is a must read for ELL teachers.

The review has considered multiple approaches to languages and what the key takeaway is for the continuing journey of language learning. while I haven't tried the trial of this product the ten goals listed identify some of the emphasis of the new common core. The new core has a different central purposethan that of most of the previously state-based standards. Teachers need to understand these goals in order to workinwith the common core.
