Flipped Classroom: The Full Picture for Higher Education

Flipped Classroom: The Full Picture for Higher Education | Engaging students in the 21st century | Scoop.it

"The Flipped Classroom, as most know, has become quite the buzz in education.  Its use in higher education has been given a lot of press recently.  The purpose of this post is to:

Provide background for this model of learning with a focus on its use in higher education. Identify some problems with its use and implementation that if not addressed, could become just a fading fad. Propose a model for implementation based on an experiential cycle of learning model."

A very comprehensive post from @jackiegerstein.

20 Must-See Facts About The 21st Century Classroom | Edudemic

20 Must-See Facts About The 21st Century Classroom | Edudemic | Engaging students in the 21st century | Scoop.it

The classroom of the future is on your doorstep. We’re getting slapped in the face with technology (sorry about that, partially my fault), flipped classroom models, and innovative ideas.

So what is the current state of the 21st century classroom? How many teachers have computers in their classroom? What are the 3 biggest reasons to use technology in your classroom? A new infographic from Open Colleges spells it out. We had the honor of helping them with this infographic so please spend at least half a second to check it out. Make me think that someone actually sees some of our hard work!

Digital generation will lead change - Toronto Star

Digital generation will lead change - Toronto Star | Engaging students in the 21st century | Scoop.it

A lot of parents, employers and professors are angry about today’s youth. They argue that young people are net-addicted, inattentive and losing their social skills. They are also narcissistic, and a new book even calls them the “Dumbest Generation.”

My research says none of this is true. I am optimistic about the potential of young people today. I call them the Net Generation, since these older teenagers and young adults are so bathed in bits that they think the Internet is part of the natural landscape. To them, digital technology is no more intimidating than a refrigerator or toaster.

Toronto Star.

Tech Driving Widespread shift in Teaching Models: Learn Now, Lecture Later Report

Tech Driving Widespread shift in Teaching Models: Learn Now, Lecture Later Report | Engaging students in the 21st century | Scoop.it

"The traditional lecture model is the standard learning method in most American
classrooms, but there is growing interest in new learning models that are
encouraging students and teachers to "learn now, lecture later."

CDW-G's new report, Learn Now, Lecture Later, looks at the different learning methods teachers and students are using and how technology is supporting the move to these new learning models. The report also examines the challenges that high
schools and colleges must overcome to make a successful transition."
