Change is not easy. If you are considering transforming to personalized learning environments, you may have concerns about the changes you have to do to make this work for you and your learners. If you are a coach or professional developer, you are working with teachers guiding them through the changes they need to do to personalize learning. This chart can help you determine what type of strategies to use to guide change about the following seven stages:

> Awareness:  do not know about or sure what Personalized Learning is
> Informational: tell me more about Personalized Learning
> Personal: concerned how Personalized Learning will impact them as a teacher
> Management: concerned about managing the classroom when learning is personalized
> Consequence: wants to know how Personalized Learning will impact teaching and learning
> Collaborative: looking forward to share with and learn from other teachers
> Refocusing: nterested to support teachers and lead the way to personalize learning

This model provides a great starting point for addressing the concerns of change inside both the education department and elsewhere.

White Paper: 5 Things Every Teacher Should be Doing to Meet the Common Core State Standards

White Paper: 5 Things Every Teacher Should be Doing to Meet the Common Core State Standards | Engagement Based Teaching and Learning | Scoop.it
The following blog post was written by Eye On Education's Senior Editor, Lauren Davis.
At the NCTE convention last month, everyone was buzzing about...

Mary Perfitt-Nelson's insight:

To prepare for engaging students in the CCSS, this white paper has outlined five important things;

 1.  Lead high-level, authentic discussions:  generating good questions is the beginning.

2.  Focus on Process, Not Just Content

3. Create Assignments for Real Audiences

and with Real Purpose

4. Teach Argument, Not Persuasion

5. Increase text complexity

In summary:

How are these five shifts happening in your classroom? What have you already been doing
well? What would you like to change? Adjusting your lessons to cover the standards will take time and work.
Stopping to ask yourself questions along the way can help you achieve success.

Connection Between CCSS and Student Motivation

Connection Between CCSS and Student Motivation | Engagement Based Teaching and Learning | Scoop.it

I believe that a tell-tale sign of a change initiative that has merit is one that quickly takes teacher conversation to the student motivation question.

Love this post.  Motivation, engagement and education are topics I am passionate about.  To impact our learners, we must understand what motivates them.  This understanding will certainly change how we do what we do in our classrooms.
