Wednesday, May 8, 5:47 PM ETEnbridge's (ENB) plan to almost double capacity on an Alberta-to-Wisconsin pipeline could spark a new oil sands-fueled fight, but CEO Al Monaco says this expansion is different than the Keystone controversy: "The pipe is in the ground... From an environmental point of view and from an equipment point of view, it is quite limited in what we need to do.” (call transcript)
First Nations from British Columbia urged Enbridge Inc. Wednesday to start an exit strategy for its proposed Northern Gateway oil sands pipeline, or face lengthy legal action.
During a conference call earlier in the day, Mr. Monaco defended the Alberta-to-Wisconsin line, which has already begun to stoke oil sands-fuelled vitriol in the United States, saying the expansion is different than Keystone XL.
