It is just plain nice to witness those rare moments when people show real kindness to each other, and psychologists have a phrase for that: It's called moral elevation, that warm-and-fuzzy feeling you get from simply witnessing compassion. "Sir, if you don't mind, could you help me eat?" That's what a disabled customer asked a fast food worker, and he didn't think twice, putting on gloves and feeding her carefully at a table at Qdoba Mexican Grill in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. David Jones, who was nearby, was touched by the encounter and shared his video with CNN affiliate WAVE. The worker, Ridge Quarles, explains their special relationship.
"She didn't get to get out of her house very often, but whenever she did, she always told me, 'Ridge, this is my most favorite place to eat,'" Quarles tells WAVE.
Quarles said he's not sure of the woman's name or background but he sees her get dropped off by a bus that helps disabled people. Sometimes she can't even get into the store. Quarles said the woman has to wait outside until someone opens the door for her.
Meanwhile, the man who shot the video wants everyone to know what a small act of kindness can do.
Jones tells WAVE, "It seems to me that if everybody in the world would just use the little simple gift that they have to maybe benefit somebody else, think what the world would be like."
