Melissa's Notes: Now we don't have to feel quite as guilty for spending time on FaceBook! Anything individuals can do to stay socially connected and cognitively engaged helps to build up what experts call "cognitive reserve" -- a “reserve” of neu­rons and abil­i­ties that enable them to off­set the losses caused by Alzheimer’s.  The larger the reserve, the fewer symptoms of dementia that person will exhibit.

About 10 million seniors currently rely on others for daily care, such as help getting dressed, preparing meals or taking medication. That number will only increase as more of the nation's 78 million baby boomers enter old age. Nearly 7 in 10 people will need some form of long-term care after turning 65, according to the Georgetown University Public Policy Institute.
