Fascinating place. Must of been a lot of wood to be created.

It takes around 30 years for a seedling to grow into the kind of wood that can be used in construction. A little maintenance is required during that period. Meanwhile it's soaking up CO2 and making oxygen. The only industrial processes required are to cut it down and cut it into boards and 2 x 4s. If you stagger your planting you have an endless supply.

"The planet is no longer a place to store our waste. It must be protected to guarantee healthy lives if we want to be able to incorporate hundreds of millions of new consumers. That is the new space race. Growth will depend on whether we are able to stretch the frontiers of knowledge to successfully face the environmental limits," she said, speaking at the Economist's Technology Frontiers conference.

The footprint of this home is relatively modest, the green statment it makes is bold and beautiful. The green wall the architects say functions as an urban “lung” within the pavement-heavy area, helping to rid the residential street of excess noise, carbon, and other pollutants floating about. Relevant article on the topic. This is of special interest to my friends in academia who are already doing work that provides value to society. We just need to tell the story better.
From the article:
...Since there’s a chance I might not know everything, I posed the same question to noted storytelling expert Michael Margolis, CEO of Get Storied. Said Margolis,
“Storytelling means you have to reveal something beyond self-congratulations. [It] is not just a gimmick to sell more crap. Storytelling is about relationship—most importantly describing the world of your audience, and how much you get who they are, what they care, and where they are trying to get in life.”
Effective social media storytelling starts at the beginning as does all brand storytelling on any platform or in any medium, and that’s the difference. An effective social media campaign rooted in storytelling will be united by one aspect—the brand’s Story Platform." Delete the scoop?

This is a real fad now, skyscrapers that twist toward the sky like that, isn't it? I can't help but wonder about the legacy. Are we entering a new era where the species is losing its self consciousness, or have these architects simply not heard the old limerick about the heartbreak when the man who was threaded one way fell in love with the woman who was threaded the other way?
