Mural.ly - a tool to fluidly lay out all ideas on one simple digital board

Mural.ly - a tool to fluidly lay out all ideas on one simple digital board | Emerging Media, Social Media & Technology | Scoop.it

"Mural.ly is a new tool (still in beta, launched last week) that is a cross between Prezi and mind maps. It’s easy to use and share what you create (perfect for most students, teachers, and parents) but the real beauty of mural.ly is in its lack of structure.

What draws me to use the site is the ability to fluidly lay out all your ideas, thoughts, images, and whatever else you want on one simple board. It’s designed to be home to your random ideas, inspiration, and other thoughts."

Artists and designers have used this for years to brainstorm and make connections, but it was by physically cutting and taping images to a wall. Finally we'll have the same freedom to use our digital images and internet finds to make a leap into a new way of thinking.

LundTechIntegration's curator insight, January 21, 2013 12:22 PM

This has so many possiblities for students.  The ability to collaborate and share resources on a project, creating a place for an artist to brainstorm their ideas, and a place to brainstorm for content, planning or curriculum.  Looking forward to learning more about this site and how to implement in the classroom.

Why Facebook Hashtags Will Revolutionize Small Business Marketing

Why Facebook Hashtags Will Revolutionize Small Business Marketing | Emerging Media, Social Media & Technology | Scoop.it

Businesses who use Facebook hashtags will reach a broader audience therefore reaching more potential customers. Use them sparingly....We all used to have Facebook friends who hashtagged words in status updates for no reason at all (other than to annoy and confuse us). You know the type right? Here’s an example:“I put ridiculously hot salsa on my tortillas that I forgot to respect #mistake #waterdoesnthelp #help“Those “annoying” people were on to something. Starting last week, Facebook adopted the clickable hashtag concept. Similar to Twitter, people and businesses are using hashtags to join the conversation, reach people and customers and get updates on specific topics....

Aligning SEO Strategy With Your Social Media Strategy

Aligning SEO Strategy With Your Social Media Strategy | Emerging Media, Social Media & Technology | Scoop.it

"The line between Social Media and SEO has been rapidly blurring for some time and today a SEO strategy without a social media plan is incomplete, while the social media user who neglects SEO is unlikely to have rapid success; or even success at all.

This is because successive Google algorithm updates have given more and more weight to “social” indicators of popularity for websites, and where Google leads other search engines are sure to follow in a bid to catch up.

Regardless of whether you’re looking at the problem from an SEO perspective or a social media perspective it is important that you have both social media activity and SEO working hand in hand if you want to maximise your effectiveness and reach.

Here are three ways you need to make sure your social media and SEO efforts work together to increase effectiveness:

1) Use SEO Best Practice in Your Social Media

2) Getting Started With SEO and Social Media

3) The First Step to Keywords"

Social Media As Means To Gamification End
Credit Card companies, far from being dealt fatal blows by the death of money, are stronger than ever. They may face some interesting competition from Bitcoin at some point, but that point isn't today.

Today Credit Card Companies are jumping into social with both feet. Social for some is a means unto itself. Social Media marketing for Credit Card companies is a means to an end.

Social media gets Credit Card companies living in the same place as their prey - college students. College students live on their phones, love to play games and may be the last tribe of pack animals on the planet.

No wonder, as this infographic shows, Credit Card companies are embracing social so earnestly you can almost see the glint of greed in their eye.

Building Collaborative eBooks on an iPad via DropBox and Book Creator App | Exploring Digital Media in Education | Emerging Media, Social Media & Technology | Scoop.it

"Right now I’m lucky enough to be collaborating with the amazing educators, Michelle Hiebert and Jason Graham. They’ve invited my class to work on creating a collaborative book. The idea is for one class to write a bit and then pass it on to the next class who in turn adds a bit and then passes it on etc. We’ve decided to use the Book Creator app on the iPad to create our book. My kinder students have had success in creating books with this simple to use app. We have decided to use DropBox as a way to share the book back and forth with each other. (I recently learned this process from @KLirenman, another awesome educator.) What I thought I’d do is provide a simple how-to on this process."

Twitter spam accounts have been an issue for years. The fact that brands, especially big ones, buy followers is proof that they still don't understand how to leverage social media properly.

Grow your followership naturally by being their go-to resource.

Ana Quillinan's curator insight, April 29, 2013 1:10 PM

This is the epitome in lacking integrity -- growing your followers naturally (organically as the gurus say it) is all about being their go-to resource -  no doubt about it. And, nope, I'm hearing more and more how many people know those followers are fake -- just click on their follower list and see how many 'eggs' and names with no profile descriptions exist....

Sad to see brands care more about their numbers than their substance...
