"Researchers think the treatment encourages brain cells to form new connections, allowing the brain to rewire itself to compensate for damage caused by a stroke.""This work fits with other work suggesting that magnetic stimulation can enhance neuroplasticity."

Although we don't use magnetic stimulation in EMDR treatment, the bilateral stimulation we do use may enhance integration of memories, body sensations, cognitions and emotions to bring the individual into present time and be able to integrate the safety and personal choice they have there, and hold on to it.
