Your DNA and identity are not as entwined as once thought. In fact most people have multiple genomes floating around, from mutations and remnants of pregnancies or twins.

Fascinating - our personal genome can vary from cell to cell.  I remember a haematology consultant talking to us as students about chimerism in leukaemia, and of course a small percentage of Down's syndrom is Mosaic.  I had thought that these were rare anaomolies, but it appears that these phenomena are a lot more common than previously thought.
