Jeanne Goodwin's curator insight, February 11, 2015 4:34 AM

The most influencing intrinsic factor for humans and education is our need to achieve from Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.  Achievement is a most powerful motivating factor; therefore, rewarding achievement (academic and attendance) with certificates or posting names on a list is a great way to reinforce positive behavior.  Given that academic progress and attendance has a strong positive correlation, tracking and recognition are critical actions for student success.
