TEACH California | Understand the Requirements

TEACH California | Understand the Requirements | Elementary School Teaching | Scoop.it
Shailanna Renee Clinton's insight:

There is only one state that I see that requires the teaching credential and that state is California.  This website tells me that if I wanted to teach elementary students then I have to have the Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.  It authorizes teaching in preschool, kindergartens, and grades 1-12.  So with the bachelor's degree and the teaching credential it all comes down to about 5 years.  After you complete the 5 years of the bachelor's degree and the crendential to obtain Clear Credential you have to complete either a Professional Teacher Induction Program or Obtain National Board certification.

Shailanna Renee Clinton's insight:

This website helps me decide on the University I would like to go to because when I choose my colleges I want them to be able to teach me the right material.  I dont want to go to a school that just shows you what to teach the kids, I want them to also teach me how to make them behave as a class.  I know any college will be able to teach what the kids need to know but what about the right and the fun way to teach them.

Grade-school teachers instruct students in grades 1 to 6, or students about ages six to 11, in such basic subjects as reading and math. They generally work the typical school hours when children are ...
Shailanna Renee Clinton's insight:

This website gives me great information because it tells me how much grade school teachers make per year, how many people usually go into teaching young children and the good schools to teach at.  The most important information for me would be how much do grade school teachers make.  In this article they say they make about $55,270 per year, as of May 2011.  They make $21.74 an hour or are supposed to be payed that much.  It also depends on the school districts and how much money they get to be able to pay the teachers the right amount of money.

Shailanna Renee Clinton's insight:

Kids that at a very young age, lets say 2-4, will not remember every vocabulary or word you use, but if you use it often enough they will start to understand that the key words or definition for the word then they will some day figure it out.  For example: if you use the word tempurature and throw in some similar wrds that go with temperature that will eventually figure out what it means.

how many year of college to become a teacher

how many year of college to become a teacher | Elementary School Teaching | Scoop.it
In order to become an elementary or secondary school teacher, you have to get a four-year bachelor's degree. Some states require one to two years of extra schooling on top of that for a teaching credential program.
Shailanna Renee Clinton's insight:

This website helps me with my decision of what I might want to do when I leave high school because if I'm going to be a teacher, then I need sertain things.  If you are going to teach either elementary or secondary kids then they include getting a bachlor's degree.  In some states they next extra schooling and a teaching credential.  So, if I want to be a elementary teacher then I have to go to school for 4 years and get a bachelor's degree.  My question would be would I need to get a teaching credential if I move to those certain states that require it?

Preschool lessons: New research shows that teaching kids more and more, at ever-younger ages, may backfire.

Preschool lessons: New research shows that teaching kids more and more, at ever-younger ages, may backfire. | Elementary School Teaching | Scoop.it
Ours is an age of pedagogy. Anxious parents instruct their children more and more, at younger and younger ages, until they're reading books to babies in the womb. They pressure teachers to make kindergartens and nurseries more like schools.
Shailanna Renee Clinton's insight:

This website caught my eye because they are saying that kids at the preschool age should not be in school yet.  The law has made it that way and so have the  anxious parents.  The earlier you teach the child, the sooner it will backfire on the parents.  It is proven that children do better on standardized testing when they get one on one learning with the teacher, instead of learning in a class with a bunch of other kids in the class.  In my opinion, children under 7 should be able to learn but not in a classroom with other kids in the class.  They should be able to get one on one time either with a teacher or a family member because they will be able to learn faster and be able to grasp what they are supposed to be learning.

The Growing Brain - Interactive Graphic - NYTimes.com

Different areas of the brain mature at different rates. Explore how the brain develops throughout childhood.
Shailanna Renee Clinton's insight:

This one talks about how the childs brain developes because it is proven that the childs brain is smarter then the adult brain.  Around 4 years old the childs motor skills are pretty much there becasue they are already walking and they can hold things like crayons.  They have already gained their sensation and their vision has already fully matured.  When they turn to be about 6 they are still learning their natural language bcause that part of the brain has not fully developed, so its still easy for them to learn another language.  All in all, the kids are a lot more fragile because they are still learning about their languages and how to use their bodies.
