Weeks after the election, the right is still lashing out. Are Republicans doomed to their own echo chamber?
[This is a fascinating analysis, riffing off of Rick Perlstein's essay (linked therein) that argues that Mitt's lying is a signal to conservatives that he is one of them. In significant ways, this explains why the Right did not mind that R/R lied nonstop throughout their campaign, so much so that it became one of the predominate themes of their campaign. As Perlstein says, "Romney's fluidity with the truth is, in fact, a feature and not a bug; a constituent part of his appeal to conservatives."
I suppose so long as Faux News and other right wing media exist to provide an alternate, fact-free reality for conservatives, this can continue. But it remains to be seen whether the results of the 2012 election will change the GOP's approach and cause them to move beyond the conservative echo chamber and closer to reality.]
