The Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) trend is increasingly spreading in Australian schools, transforming the way students learn and how, where and when they consume educational information.

Yes, every day should be Digital Learning Day as our students are citizens of the digital world. I couldn't help feel sorry for the students whose teacher says that her students do not need technology, and I wonder about their job prospects in a few years, when they enter the workforce being digitally illiterate. So, yes, every day should be Digital Learning Day! Delete the scoop?

It would be a wise thing for anyone involved in education to take on board Sir Ken's thinking - it is sound and makes sense and may just help us to re-engage our students - and ourselves, perhaps.

Powerful message that challenges traditional instructional mindset and process for measuring. Why are we testing one way but employers looking for students that are more collaborative and creative??

Totally agree with Ken, in every way. Students can put their own personal branding when they complete challenges using their creativity, and collaborating with their peers. www.eduplex.com.au

There are many ways we may look at 21st century learning and this post suggest that there are six channesl of learning. In fact the post notes that there are more than six channels but that "these six are emerging or have always existed as powerful players in how learners make meaning." The image above provides a visual view, and the six key areas are listed below. * Dialogic Response * Community Interaction * Abstraction and Creativity * Media Literacy * Play * Self-Directed Learning Are there other areas you would define as channels of learning?

The infographic shows how blended learning is not about replacing teachers with technology, but rather empowering them with new opportunities.

Once a learning module is made, you can tweak it each year, to really personalise it for each students. So, whilst they take a while, you are creating your own eLearning "library" along the way...
you build your own personal suite of eLearning that you can adapt each year, to personalise it for the kids you teachwww.eduplex.com.au Delete the scoop?

Snapshot of a Deeper Learning Classroom: Aligning TED Talks to the Four Cs
"...this year I have been dedicated to using the 21st Century four Cs. The four Cs are a rubric of sorts that help align lessons to more reality-based learning and assessing. As I design a lesson or assessment, I ask myself if what I've designed, or what the students must master, correlates to the important skills of: * Collaboration * Communication * Critical Thinking Snapshot of a Deeper Learning Classroom: Aligning TED Talks to the Four Cs via @BethDichter http://sco.lt/...

These are the same skills used when high school students, in teams, design their game documentation, 2D/3D graphic design and programming.

I think the C's have to be: Creativity, Collaborative, Connected, Contextual - I make sure all the courses I design have all of these C elements.

It makes a lot of sense to BYOD to school..so much time is spent with doling out netbooks, and it's pretty sad when you see a kid over the moon, about to get their school loaned netbook, only to have to wait 15 minutes to log in. BYOD is a marvellous idea, and will give the teachers time to do their core business- teaching kids!
