Understanding Bloom's Taxonomy and Using It Effectively

Understanding Bloom's Taxonomy and Using It Effectively | Elearning and Mlearning Topics | Scoop.it
Most educators are familiar with Bloom's Taxonomy.  Proposed and created in 1956 by Benjamin Bloom and a committee of educators, it is a classification of the different objectives and skills students should learn from specific course content.  The taxonomy was updated in 2001 by Anderson and Krathwohl to focus on six levels of learning: Remember, Understand, Apply, Analyze, Evaluate, and Create.  As you can see below in the first image, Anderson and Krathwohl shifted the taxonomy from nouns to active verbs.

The Gamification Guide - How To Gamify Your Class in 3 Stages

The Gamification Guide - How To Gamify Your Class in 3 Stages | Elearning and Mlearning Topics | Scoop.it
Gamification is the use of game-mechanics and elements in non-game contexts. For the last six years, I’ve used gamification to turn my classroom into a video game to help motivate, engage, and empower my students. I’ve done hundreds of presentations on my unique style of gamification and have worked with dozens of teachers to turn their classroom into a video game. One of the things I’m always told is that an in-depth guide would be useful, so I wrote one!

Brian shares how he transformed his classroom to a learner-centered environment and what happened in the process with his learners. Here is a glimpse of his journey:

"As teachers, it is difficult to let go of control and to let our learners find the best ways for them to achieve content and curriculum goals. To be clear, our role in the classroom needs to change, and I think the trend in education is moving the correct direction--achieving and creating a learner-driven, personalized atmosphere is the key. Providing learners with the tools to succeed should be the goal, and we should focus on allowing them to use those tools in the way that works best individually. Instead of providing the blueprint for learners to achieve a goal, educators should be allowing and guiding them in designing, developing, and implementing their plan for accomplishing it. When this happens, drastic changes take place regarding engagement in our classrooms and ownership of learning appears, leading to a higher level of achievement."

Education is an important area of life that effects areas of an individual life that  last life time and only testing which reveals the current education level and not the previous years be they educationally successful or not because the present status of education and all the needed services and programs needed for the students education success on his or her current education level for success cannot be determined by usage of former education info.

Developing Your Digital Study Skills

Developing Your Digital Study Skills | Elearning and Mlearning Topics | Scoop.it
Making the move from our safe and trusted traditional literacy habits to newer digital skills can be quite a challenge, but as teachers I think we are really unlikely to be able to use technology and help our students use technology really effectively unless we are prepared to face this challenge. Technology needs to be more than part of the way we teach but it also has to be part of the way we ourselves continue to learn and part of our everyday professional practice.

This article show the importance of technology in the classroom and how the use of an online tool as Scrible can improve the collaborative learning. Scrible is a simple browser plugin that you can activate whenever you find something interesting online. The plugin opens a toolbar which enables to annotate and markup webpages with different colour highlighters, sticky notes and change the colour of the text. Also it enables to share the information with others and create a simple link with this information. These links can be either as ‘read only’ or as ‘editable’ pages where students can see annotations and also add their own; making a collaborative learning.

It requires communications to and from the complainant and those the complaint is about and/or alleged against. Which is exactly why Dorothy Cook of her own attempts could not resolve the allegations of Wilson County Schools Board 2/18/2013 dated letter Re: Contact with School System Employees and Presence on School Property' as per said letter not only Dorothy Cook but all Wilson County Schools employees communications to each other is restricted which also meant Wilson County Schools Board Members who are Wilson County Schools Employees , who sent Dorothy Cook at that time Prose Rep/parent for her daughter Megan Cook for and during NC OAH Office of Administrative Hearings SEC Special Education Contested Court Case the 2/18/13 dated letter prohibited Dorothy Cook from communicating with them directly which if said communications were not prohibited Dorothy Cook could have brought the allegations an entire content of said letter to and or directly before the Wilson County Schools Board Members during their school board meeting with documented as recorded communications of Dorothy Cook statements to WCS Board Members and the Wilson County Schools Board Members responses as the school board meetings are media recorded. Yes , Dorothy Cook ,Megan Cook and ALL the Wilson County Schools employees that was or maybe still employed by WCS from ,2/18/13 until 10/2016 ,JUSTICE was silenced! but as of October, ,2016 said letter was rescinded in its entirety by Wilson County Schools Board therefore it's JUSTICE time no more sense. There is a very thin line between plagiarism and collaboration where group assessments are concerned. I also feel that in this digital age, the type of assessments, activities and questions should be re-defined and reworked. I also try to provide "wrappers" in the class especially on ethics.
