Book Creator for iPad Now Supports Handwriting

Book Creator for iPad Now Supports Handwriting | eLearning and Academic Libraries | Scoop.it

The very popular iPad app Book Creator recently received a couple of updates of note. The first update was a new look for iOS 7 users. iOS 6 users will be happy to see that even though the app has been updated, it will still work the same way on their devices. The more important update to Book Creator is the addition of support for handwriting and free-hand drawing in your books.

Elizabeth Hutchinson's curator insight, October 25, 2013 5:44 AM

Flipped learning is where we are heading. I have been thinking that school libraries should do the same so it was great to read this post. What resources would you put on and how would you keep it fresh? I think I would like to do a 'how to'guide by video but not sure how to start. Looks like I have some learning to do

Kris McGlaun's curator insight, October 26, 2013 11:48 AM

I feel like we do this in addition to having the library open physically.

Exploring The Prehistoric World, By Way Of Virtual Reality

Exploring The Prehistoric World, By Way Of Virtual Reality | eLearning and Academic Libraries | Scoop.it
For most history students, “exploring the past” means sifting through mountains of data. But digital archaeologist Marcus Abbott wants to make early human civilisation — or its digital simulacra — freely accessible to anyone who wants to explore it. His first prehistoric VR environment? A 3000-year-old spiritual site in the East Anglian fens.

In the world of academia, Google search engine does not always serve the purpose because most of the time its search results are not exact . I am a huge fan of Google but when it comes to academic search queries I  often have recourse to other search engines that are area or content specific.

Will Google Glass Usher Augmented Reality into the Classroom?

Will Google Glass Usher Augmented Reality into the Classroom? | eLearning and Academic Libraries | Scoop.it
Schools are taking notice of the buzz surrounding Google's wearable tech gadget.

Google Glass may just represent the future of AR in the classroom. But do today's educators see it that way?

According to Bill Bass, innovation coordinator for instructional technology, information and library media at Parkway School District in Chesterfield, Mo., most of them are still figuring it out and using it sparingly. He recently helped teachers use the AR platform Aurasma to bring the Constitution to life. Amendments were projected onto a wall, and as students approached each one, they could watch a related video created by their classmates.

Blog: The Power of the Lurker

Blog: The Power of the Lurker | eLearning and Academic Libraries | Scoop.it
Anyone who knows me or reads my blog and Tweets knows I am a big advocate of social learning. The idea that we don't have to be the smartest or be an expert in everything should be a big relief in the classroom. When I started teaching I did everything I could to make sure I knew more than my students. Looking back, I know I wasted a great deal of time and many teachable moments with that attitude. I don't have to know everything. I have a network of people that I am plugged into that can help me, advise me, suggest for me and point me in the right direction when I am wrong.
