BEYOND THE FIRE

Beyond the Fire introduces the real-life stories of 15 teenagers, now living in the United States, who have survived war in seven war zones. These stories tell of loss, hope, fear, strength and despair—and most of all, resilience. Key features of the site include an interactive “world view” map that allows students to navigate the site by clicking on the images of teens in their different home countries; teen refugee stories told through audio and Flash-animated movies, accompanied by downloadable teen refugee transcripts; conflict timelines that give a brief history of the conflict in each teen’s country; and country facts, such as size, population, type of government and number of refugees fleeing war.
