11 Mind Mapping Apps for the iPad

11 Mind Mapping Apps for the iPad | ELA in the Modern Era | Scoop.it

Mind mapping is a method that works for quite a lot of people. Brain storming, idea mapping, thought generation, think tanks – call it what you will. Traditionally done on large pieces of paper, why not use your iPad to create mind maps? You could use these for your own purposes, or “convert” those large flip charts into a smaller, digital version.

E-readers and tablets are becoming more popular as such technologies improve, but research suggests that reading on paper still boasts unique advantages

Tracee Orman's curator insight, May 13, 6:03 PM

Great article explaining how the brain interprets text in two different formats (on screen vs. on paper). I knew there had to be a reason why reading from a book has advantages over a screen and this article offers great explanations. In my own classroom research, those who read the paper copy of books do far better on assessments than those who read the digitial copies. Also, students score better on paper tests/quizzes than on online assessments. Knowing how long the quiz or test is and being able to look back or look forward on assignments and in books really is important.
