Mystery of King Tut's Death Solved? Maybe Not

Mystery of King Tut's Death Solved? Maybe Not | Egyptology and Archaeology | Scoop.it
King Tut's chariot crashed and later his mummy burned, says an upcoming TV show.

Amanda Duvall's curator insight, November 26, 2013 11:19 PM

King Tutankhamun was just a teen when he died. He was well fed and fiercely protected. His death meant the beginning of the end for  ancient Egypt's 18th dynasty. A report from a British team did an x-Ray of Tut in 1968. It reveals a missing breastbone and the ribs line up along the backbone, probably all smashed ans removed by the embalmers. They also revealed extreme damage to the rib cage and and a broken leg in 2005. He clearly suffered some kind of massive trauma. One cause of death at the time from the CT scan was a chariot crash. The King might have been riding during a hunt or a battle. They also think King Tut was in the wrong place at the wrong time  and was hunting then charged by hippopotamus. What death caused this highly protected king to die.

Why does the mummy’s curse refuse to die? – Jo Marchant – Aeon | Egyptology and Archaeology | Scoop.it
It came from an Egyptian tomb... Well no, actually, it didn’t. But once a myth lurches into life, there’s no stopping it
