Faculty of Oriental Studies, Griffith Institute, Sackler Library, St. John Street, OxfordGrade 7: £29,837 - £36,661 p.a.The University proposes to appoint a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Egyptology for a fixed-term of 6 months. The Departmental Lecturer will provide replacement teaching, administration and examining as a temporary cover for the maternity leave of the Associate Professor of Egyptology.

Applicants must hold a graduate degree in Egyptology; have an aptitude for teaching and experience of teaching and research; possess a solid knowledge of major phases of Egyptian language and be able to teach Middle and Late Egyptian language and texts; be able to give lectures on Egyptian history, from early periods to the early first millennium, as well as broad cultural topics including art and architecture; be able to teach undergraduate tutorials on special topics relating to Egyptian art and iconography; be able to teach graduate tutorials on a range of cultural, archaeological, philological, and historical topics; be able to teach classes on Egyptian material culture using the collections of the Ashmolean Museum; be able to demonstrate a commitment to communicating and publishing research in their field of study; possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills; and should demonstrate a willingness to undertake administrative tasks.

The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 31 July 2014.
