The Salafi Nour Party said on Tuesday it will not participate in next Friday's demonstrations in order to avoid any violence that may break out.
Demonstrating amid such circumstances leads to mobilising more crowds from the opposing side, the Middle East News Agency reported the party as saying.
Several Islamist parties including the Freedom and Justice Party, the Building and Development Party and al-Wasat Party had called for demonstrations on Friday 21 June to renounce violence.
"The country is now going through division and severe polarisation that were never part of the Egyptian people who dazzled the world with a revolution that toppled ... tyranny peacefully," the party said in a statement.
The party reaffirmed the right of the people to express their opinion as long as this expression is peaceful.

On Sunday, June 16th, the Egyptian President Dr. Mohamed Mursi issued a decree appointing new provincial governors, including Mr. Adel El-Khayat as the new governor of Luxor. According to press reports, Mr. El-Khayat is a founding member of the islamist and former terrorist group Al-Gama'a Al-Islamiya, that claimed responsibility for the infamous Luxor massacre in 1997.
In 1997, six gunmen of the group slaughtered 62 people, mostly tourists, in the pharaonic temple of Hatshepsut. The victims of the onslaught included couples in their honeymoon, women and children. Many bodies, especially of women, were mutilated with machetes. The massacre brought tourism almost to a standstill for years and did heavy moral and economic damage to the region.
Al-Gama'a Al-Islamiya was also thought to be implicated in the assassination of former Egyptian President Anwar El-Sadat in 1981 and claimed responsibility for other attacks in the 1990's, that claimed hundreds of lives.
The appointment of a leading member of Al-Gama'a Al-Islamiya as governor of Luxor is a slap in the face of all victims and their families, especially those of the Luxor massacre. The leader of a former terrorist group cannot be made governor in the place of one of it's most heinous crimes.
As till today the Egyptian government did not install a memorial for the victims of the massacre from 1997, it is also time to call on the authorities to finally take action. A memorial should be erected at the place of the massacre in Luxor's Deir el-Bahari region at the site of Hatshepsut temple.
Please sign this petition to voice support for the people of Luxor and across Egypt who stand up against religious extremism in the 1990's and till today. Call on the Egyptian government to fight religious extremism.

Political activists and Luxor tourism workers have announced they will close touristic sites in 'the world's largest open air museum' if the newly-appointed governor is not dismissed from office.
A number of political groups, syndicates, and tourism workers in Luxor released a statement on Tuesday opposing the appointment of Adel El-Khayat as governor because he is a leading member of the ultra-conservative Al-Gamma Al-Islamiya group.
The group was responsible for the infamous 1997 Luxor attack in which at least 58 foreign tourists and four Egyptians were killed.
The statement asserted that the 52-year-old El-Khayat is incapable of leading the governorate because of his "[fundamentalist] religious background," adding that they will prevent him from entering his office and assuming his post.

CAIRO (Reuters, via The Courant) -
Sixteen years ago, Adel Mohamed al-Khayat was a member of the militant group blamed for slaughtering 58 tourists in Egypt's Valley of the Queens; today he's promising to keep visitors safe.
Khayat's appointment by President Mohamed Mursi as governor of the city of Luxor has triggered howls of protest, with demonstrators protesting for a second day on Tuesday and one critic calling it 'the last nail in the coffin of tourism'.
But in a telephone interview with Reuters, the 60-year-old governor declared: "Luxor is open to all tourists from all over the world. They are my main concern and are looked after by the state, which is responsible for their security and their wellbeing."

The number of blasphemy cases, once rare in Egypt, has increased sharply as Islamists assert their new power in public life.
Egypt’s prosecutors have been flooded with blasphemy complaints since 2011 as Islamists exercising their new societal clout have pushed for prosecutions and courts have handed down steep fines and prison terms for insulting religion.

Saudi Arabia has reduced the number Egyptians permitted to perform hajj this year by 20%, a move expected to hurt Egyptian tourism companies.
The Saudi government cited ongoing infrastructural projects in the holy city of Mecca as the primary cause for the cut.
Elhamy El-Zayat, the chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Federation, said tourism companies will face “definite losses” due to the decision.
“Figures from the Ministry of Tourism and federation tried to communicate with the authorities in Saudi Arabia but their decision is final and will be applied to all [countries],” El-Zayat said.

Unidentified protestors broke into the Fayoum governorate offices on Monday night following an anti-Muslim Brotherhood presentation, according to a political activist in Fayoum.
According to activist Hoda Abbas, members of the opposition in Fayoum had organized a presentation, titled Ikhwan Kazebon (The Muslim Brotherhood Are Liars), in response to Brotherhood claims that their Sunday demonstrations were of a peaceful nature. Following the presentation, the opposition held a march towards the governorate building condemning the appointment of the new governor, Gaber Abdel Salam, a Muslim Brotherhood member.
A number of unidentified demonstrators then broke through the building’s gate and vandalised the building, Abbas said.
