The annual international Colloquium on the History of Egypt and Syria in the Fatimid, Ayyubid and Mamluk Eras (CHESFAME) will take place on Wednesday 15, Thursday 16 and Friday 17 May 2013.
“22nd Colloquium on the History of Egypt and Syria (10th-15th Centuries)”, 15-17 May 2013, Gand (Belgique)
With more than 15 papers already registered, CHESFAME’s program is filling up rapidly; we therefore wish to urge those colleagues who still wish to participate but who have not yet responded, to contact us as soon as possible at <Jo.VanSteenbergen@UGent.be>. As always, we look forward to hosting the usual mixture of regular guests and newcomers for interesting papers and stimulating discussions on a range of topics relating to the histories and cultures of the Eastern Mediterranean between the 10th and 15th centuries. Furthermore, we would be very much obliged to receive paper titles from all participants before 15 March 2013 at latest. The program of CHESFAME’S 22nd meeting will be sent around soon thereafter.
CHESFAME will again be organised in the historic city of Ghent, Belgium, by Ghent University’s Mamluk History and Culture research group (www.mamluk.ugent.be), member of the Henri Pirenne Institute for Medieval Studies (www.pirenne.ugent.be).
CHESFAME 22 will take place at the following location: Jozef Plateauzaal, Jozef Plateaustraat 22, B-9000 Ghent.
As always, we unfortunately will not have sufficient funding for the reimbursement of participants’ expenses. Nevertheless, there again will be no registration fee, and lunch, coffee and tea will be provided during the session breaks.
The department’s secretary, Mrs. Hilde De Paepe, remains at your disposal for any practical guidance or assistance (incl. accommodation), at <h.depaepe@UGent.be>. We look forward to welcoming you in Ghent in May 2013.
