Mark Lehner, PhD, Director and co-founder of Ancient Egypt Research Associates, will speak at the University of Memphis on the evening of Thursday, February 7, 2013.

In his talk, Dr. Lehner will illuminate the lives of the craftsmen and builders responsible for one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the Great Pyramids at Giza.  Lehner discovered the city of the workmen who constructed the Great Pyramid of Khufu with Dr. Zahi Hawass.

This event is co-sponsored by the Egyptology Graduate Student Association of the University of Memphis and the Institute of Egyptian Art and Archaeology.

This free public event will take place on the campus of the University of Memphis at 7:00 p.m. in the Fountain View Suite (room 350) in the University Center.

A free public reception will precede the lecture at 6:00 p.m.

Memphis, Tennessee – On Thursday February 7th, The Institute of Egyptian Art and Archaeology (IEAA), in collaboration with the Egyptology Graduate Student Association of the University of Memphis, welcome AERA Director Dr. Mark Lehner as part of an educational outreach to the public by the IEAA.

Dr. Lehner’s lecture, “Who Built the Pyramids? the Discovery and Excavation of the Workmen’s Village on the Giza Plateau”, will shed some light on the lives of the builders of the Great Pyramids at Giza.

The lecture begins at 7:00pm and is free to the public. It will be preceded by a public reception at 6:00pm.
