Switzerland’s Attorney General requested Friday the assistance of Egyptian Judicial authorities to obtain evidence implicating Egyptians related to Hosni Mubarak’s regime of money laundering offenses committed outside of Egypt, according to statement published on the Federal Authorities of the Swiss Confederation official website.

“The cooperation of the Egyptian judicial authorities is vital since the alleged criminal acts or predicate offences to money laundering took place almost exclusively in Egypt,” read the statement.

The statement said the Attorney General’s Office would contact Judicial Egyptian authorities during the “next few days” to follow up on the case per the Swiss Act on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters (IMAC) and the Swiss Criminal Procedure Code (CrimPC).
