Learn why it is important to stretch your brain, to try new things (and to fail) and to continue to try and improve. Learn about our "Lizard Brain"  (also known as the amygdala),an important component of our brain that impacts how we learn, but the learning is related to the time when humans hunted in the wild. This part of the brain holds us back in many ways, and although it once protected us now it tends to hold us back.

What can we do about this? The video explores this and discusses some of the ways we can "dance" with this "Lizard Brain" and move from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. For more information take the time to watch this video.

When so many new technologies promise to transform education - what role is left to the teacher?  Why is the teacher still important?  This powerful clip effectively presents compelling arguments for the importance of teaching students in a 'social' classroom setting - with reference to 'how' students learn; making the best of all types of tools to aid what goes on 'in the student's head'.

Melvina Kurashige is a Japanese teacher who shared an idea from a school in Belgium. The kids took the idea and made it their own. Next thing they were invited to present at the School of the Future Conference in front of hundreds of teachers. They realized the process is what helped them become better learners.

Thanks for all of your comments and responses to my question. Perhaps the relative success of using Wibbitz depends upon the platform (if that's the right term!) upon which the web page rests. Interesting idea though.

Subtitle, Caption and Translate Any Video with Amara / Universal Subtitles

Robin Good: Amara / Universal Subtitles is a free web-based service that allows anyone to easily sub-title and add captions to any video.

As long as you have a URL of a published video, Amara makes it very easy to caption it. The clip may be on a video sharing site or embedded in custom video player and Amara can still get to it.

Amara is made up of three main parts:

a) A subtitle creation and viewing tool (aka the widget)

b) A collaborative subtitling website

c) An open protocol for subtitle search/delivery

All tools inside Amara are free and open-source.

Supported video players and video sharing sites include:

Flowplayer JW Player Firefox native player Chrome native player
  YouTube Vimeo Dailymotion blip.tv

See examples: http://www.universalsubtitles.org/en/videos/watch/ ;
