A Web vs. Native Tablet App Experience Analysis: A&E | Effective UX Design | Scoop.it

UX and The Brain by Hello Erik - User Experience @Erik_UX

UX and The Brain by Hello Erik - User Experience @Erik_UX | Effective UX Design | Scoop.it

UX relies on associations and reinforcements

Terry Patterson's insight:

Like it or not, UX practitioners need to be aware of the psychological aspect of interactions and the adaptability and complexities of abilities afforded by the neural anatomy of brain functions. This article is a good read when you are interested in how the fascinating deconstruction of our "experiences" are brought to this very basic level that makes us human.

Little Big Details

Little Big Details | Effective UX Design | Scoop.it
Your daily dose of UI inspiration
Terry Patterson's insight:

When you're a UX designer you are concerned with the experience, the ease and the delight of product use for very specific tasks that make the whole experience. We (sometimes) say the UI comes later, the "make it pretty" phase will be satisfied when we work through the process of "making things easy first" - and the UI side of things is where things actually happen so it can't be ignored. Sometimes, pretty makes a BIG difference. This is why this tumblr blog is cool, it will give you UI inspiration that may come in handy.

The gradient chart : Cennydd Bowles

The gradient chart : Cennydd Bowles | Effective UX Design | Scoop.it

Here’s a little tool I’ve found useful when deciding whether to build a responsive site or a separate site for different devices (eg a mdot smartphone site to accompany a ‘full’ site). Cennydd Bowles, digital product designer.

Terry Patterson's insight:

First of all, I do not agree with the mentality that responsive is the solution for all web projects. There is definitely a difference when it comes to user tasks in the mobile phone space and the desktop or tablet space. A designer must be aware of these differences before they begin responsive layout designs. If not, the responsive solutions are horrible.

Importance of User Interface (UI) & User Experience (UX) | Articles | Graphic Design Junction | Effective UX Design | Scoop.it
The actual fact of User Interface (UI) as well as User Experience (UX) is that both UI/UX are the two sides of the same coin. Both are keeping up the
Terry Patterson's insight:

Although this is not a great article, I have to say that there is a point that the author was trying to make about how much the graphic UI matters. I'd like to see related articles but making the case as well for the technical side of things. I have seen beautiful GUIs with very poor tech implementation, and that makes the UX terrible.

Terry Patterson's comment, April 21, 2013 7:07 PM
This is fascinating, isn't it? Any designer responsible for a product aimed for global consumption should be well aware of this research. I am interested in the development of these theories when it comes to development ages now that our youngsters are growing up in a more connected "globalized" digital information age.
Mario K. Sakata's comment, April 21, 2013 9:12 PM
True, there should be a breaking point when it comes to nurturing the customers.

Terry Patterson's insight:

As we approach interface design to improve the user experience, it is important to observe the intention of the user to be "free of the interface" - I think that some applications are already on this path, and this is especially interesting when it comes to the conversation of API standardization.

Create Authentic Personas to Drive Compelling Content Strategy

Create Authentic Personas to Drive Compelling Content Strategy | Effective UX Design | Scoop.it
Use a deep understanding of your inbound marketing target to create target personas so your content strategy is precisely tailored to them.
Terry Patterson's insight:

And for UX, personas might be a helpful exercise, especially if you want to take time to create user journeys as well, personas are your first step. Before UX, I used to think about this exercise as doing a simple user segment analysis, or a target user analysis. For UX, personas go a little deeper, as I said, with the user journeys mapping out steps they would take in a system as you learn to connect the personas you created with some real contextual scenarios.
