"Food. It’s something we all think about, talk about, and need. Food has been one major topic of interest at National Geographic because it connects all of us to our environment. The recent global population projections for the year 2100 just went up from 9 billion to 11 billion, making the issues of food production and distribution all the more important. For the last 3 years I’ve stored podcasts, articles, videos, and other resources on my personal site on a wide range of geographic issues, including food resources. I thought that sharing 10 of my personal favorite resources on the geography of food would be helpful to understand our changing global food systems."

But, we should learn from their examples - we in Australia definitely moving towards over-educating, with even prep losing its play-based approach. Also worth noting - the teacher in the classroom has the biggest impact on whether or not the students will learn - effective teachers=effective learners.

Yet research has already told us a lot about how we read now. First and foremost, it emphasises that even using paper, there are many different approaches. Most of us probably have a settled style: you might be a skimmer, a skipper, a front-to-back completist, a keeper of the pristine page or an obsessive writer of marginalia. I have heard many teachers proclaim that reading a "book" is more beneficial than an ereader, etc. I have not necessarily bekieved what they say, but the evidence is just not there yet, however it is beginning to come and my own anecdotal evidence seems to resonate with what is being stated here.
Children who participate in group learning develop better decision-making skills than children who study the same curriculum via teacher-led discussions, suggests a new study. More than 760 fifth-grade students were involved in the study, which compared the efficacy of collaborative group work with conventional direct instruction at promoting students' ability to make reasoned decisions and apply those skills in a novel task.
