The Teacher's Guide To Choosing The Best Digital Content - Edudemic

The Teacher's Guide To Choosing The Best Digital Content - Edudemic | Effective Digital Learning | Scoop.it

"A blended learning environment means you’re mixing technology with standard teaching practices in order to enhance education. In other words, you’re mixing a little bit of tech with a little bit of in-classroom learning and you’re getting something better than the sum of its parts. Blended learning is becoming the biggest trend in education technology lately as teachers (hey that’s you!) realize technology isn’t the magical unicorn of education. It’s not enough to simply throw an iPad into a student’s hands and walk away."

Educational Technology Is Making Achievement Gaps Even Bigger

Educational Technology Is Making Achievement Gaps Even Bigger | Effective Digital Learning | Scoop.it

This is not a story of the familiar “digital divide”—a lack of access to technology for poor and minority children. This has to do, rather, with a phenomenon Neuman and Celano observed again and again in the two libraries: Granted access to technology, affluent kids and poor kids use tech differently. They select different programs and features, engage in different types of mental activity, and come away with different kinds of knowledge and experience.

Create, Publish, Promote: An iPad Workflow For Learning - Te@chThought

Create, Publish, Promote: An iPad Workflow For Learning - Te@chThought | Effective Digital Learning | Scoop.it

"Workflow is as much about inspiration and elegance as it is function and efficiency.

Ideally a workflow for learning would promote curiosity and ambition as much as it supports students in accomplishing goals, turning in work, and other procedural events. Any workflow should also be aligned with the tools of the trade–in this case the hardware and software of an iPad.

That’s where Create, Publish, Promote comes in–three words that clarify a basic sequence that can realize the potential of mobile technology."

Free Technology for Teachers: Free Collaborative Video Creation with iPads | Effective Digital Learning | Scoop.it

"Publishing student video that is created with iPads can be a challenging process, especially with younger students. Even schools that are Google Apps typically decide to turn off YouTube uploads to the student accounts. However, with the use of a handful of free applications, students can create video content on iPad, share their creation with a teacher, and then have the teacher upload to their YouTube channel or a class YouTube channel.
