Creativity Games - Brain Training for Creativity

Creativity Games - Brain Training for Creativity | Edutechification | Scoop.it

Description by Terry Eichholtz

"Creativity Games is a site that offers a weekly creativity game every Monday. There are also weekly challenges and resources offered. Although it seems to be aimed at an adult audience, I believe many of the ideas could be used with younger students as well. For example, I love the “New World Education Game” that was offered on August 20th. It challenges you to think of a new university course using the 4 words provided. As the “Strategy” paragraph states, our students are entering a new world with different technologies, and we need to come up with novel ideas for preparing them for this. I could see my gifted and talented students loving this idea, and many of the other activities on Creativity Games. This is a great tool for educators."

B Ritt Smetzer's curator insight, February 14, 2016 12:48 PM

This website was created by Ryan Chadwick, an IT teacher who has always been interested in how and why people learn the way they do. He loves to push himself and has come to realize that by having a creative mind he can do just that. He created this site to spread and develop creative thinking. The website gives the reader a step-by-step plan.  First you start with a weekly creative game that will challenge you to think in different ways.  Then you can check out their weekly learning resources and read up on many different topics, ideas and views.  Then you can take the weekly creativity challenge which challenges you to incorporate creativity into your everyday life.  This would be a fun weekly activity for a gifted learner or a teacher of the gifted.  It is very structured and involves stretching your brain in ways that you may never do on a daily basis. This site will inspire you to spread creativity, create new ideas and to just get those creative juices flowing. You may even choose to share your ideas and thoughts with friends, educators or other leaders in your community. I love the idea of this website and incorporating it into a classroom as a "brain break" activity would be extremely beneficial.

New iOS App Uses Audio Recognition to Provide 3rd-Party Info About Claims Made in TV Ads For/From Presidential Candidates | LJ INFOdocket | Edutechification | Scoop.it

New, Free, iOS App Aimed at Election 2012

A new, FREE, iOS app launched today that might be of interest to you and or your colleagues. It's called the SuperPAC app and allows users to simply hold their iOS device (iPhone/iTouch/iPad) up to the television or radio while a commercial for a presidential candidate is airing. The app uses audio recognition to identify the commercial and then returns information pertaining to who is paying for the ad and third-party information about the statements being made.

The app is an innovative use and timely use of audio recognition technology, something we will, no doubt, be seeing an increase implementation of moving forward.

The company producing the app was launched out of the MIT Media Lab.

An Interactive Infographic Maps The Future Of Emerging Technology

An Interactive Infographic Maps The Future Of Emerging Technology | Edutechification | Scoop.it

When will you get your robot butler? When will we first set foot on Mars? These and countless other questions about the future are answered in this amazing chart of where technology is headed in the next 30 years.

Can speculation about the future of technology serve as a measuring stick for what we create today? That's the idea behind Envisioning Technology's massive infographic, which maps the future of emerging technologies on a loose timeline between now and 2040.

A time mapping of current and emerging technologies for the next 30 years including health care advancements such as self healing materials, organ printing and synthetic blood in the next couple of years. It is interesting to think about which ones we will be able to tick off as accurate and which ones will end up seeming as far fetched as all of us on hoverboards in 2012 (thinking 'Back to the Future').
