El diseño instruccional no es tarea de una sola persona limitada a una sola tarea. Existen múltiples disciplinas que intervienen en el mismo, con el diseñador instruccional asumiendo una serie de papeles para completar el trabajo. Esta es la misma idea presentada en el documento: Los diversos roles del diseño: un nuevo método de diseño instruccional.

Cada función es una parte crucial del proceso, todas las funciones son igualmente importantes. Se complementan entre sí. El diseñador instruccional es parte ingeniero, parte fabricante, parte arquitecto, parte artista y parte artesano. Definitivamente implica una gran cantidad de flexibilidad o la capacidad de equilibrar los roles.

Independientemente de si usted es nuevo en la industria, la integración de estas cinco funciones de diseño puede ayudar a mejorar sus procesos de trabajo. He aquí una breve explicación de cada rol.

While each elearning project is unique in its own right, there are still a handful of shared characteristics no matter what the topic or who the audience.

If you are developing elearning courses, over time you start to pick up on these patterns. In fact, with enough practice, much of this becomes second nature.

Still, it can be helpful to create a checklist so that you are always sure that your courses take into consideration the components that span across all projects.

If you have been creating online training programs for some time now, I am sure you have your own list,  or could perhaps add to the one below. Think of the list I have included here as a starting-point rather than a be-all, end-all list.

In the context of a prezi, your characters are the specific messages or topics that you wish to share with the audience. More often than not, slide-based presentations start with an agenda slide, but is it really necessary? Do you really want to give away the best bits of your presentation from the start? In film terms, it would be like screening a trailer right before the actual film, giving away spoilers and clues prior to the main event.

When taking your audience on a journey, it’s better to introduce characters bit by bit instead of all at once. Quentin Tarantino is known for the depth of his characters and their introductions into his scripts. In Reservoir Dogs, for example, Tarantino introduces his characters in brief at the beginning of the film and then gradually reveals their backgrounds, motivations, passions, and personalities over the course of the film. You can do this in your prezi by introducing main themes in your establishing shot, then gradually exploring each topic in greater detail as you progress through the presentation.

What really matters in the 21st Century? Is it the ability to use a computer? Is it to successfully interact with digital landscapes and resources? Is it achieving Ender Dragon experience in Minecraft? Is it knowing the ins and outs of multiple devices and operating systems?

Or is its about connections and relationships?

It’s fascinating–but not surprising–that the Partnership for 21st Century Skills website is severely lacking in the use of the word “computer,” even the word “device.” On their main page describing their framework, the words “device,” “computer,” “application,” or “internet” are not used.

Remember, we're now living in a world that's constantly inundated with information. Allowing people to learn from almost anywhere is no longer an add-on feature. To become a better designer, you have to understand fully how information works in a distributed or networked environment. And you definitely have to be comfortable when working with different tools and technologies too. But, above all, you need to stick to the fundamentals and don't get distracted.

Diseño Instruccional es la forma en que tomamos un bloque de contenido y los convertimos en un proyecto de aprendizaje basado en una estrategia y objetivos medibles con el fin de ayudarle al alumno a completar ciertas tareas de forma efectiva.

Hemos visto proyectos sin buen Diseño Instruccional más veces de las que podemos recordar. Los expertos en la materia están ahí, el contenido es de calidad... y aún así fracasan los cursos. Los alumnos no obtienen nuevos conocimientos o habilidades una vez que los completan. En otras palabras, el tiempo y el dinero se van por el desagüe. Es como entrar en una sala de clase, dar a los estudiantes un libro y decir "aprendan". Tal vez sí, se ahorraría tiempo y dinero si no contrata a un maestro, pero ¿funcionaría? No. Es por eso que necesitamos tomar el DI en serio.

El acelerado desarrollo tecnológico y su casi violenta irrupción en las actividades humanas, ha originado el surgimiento de nuevas prácticas productivas y comunicativas en la sociedad actual. Experimentamos ahora distintas formas de actuar e interactuar socialmente y, también, de aprender. De igual manera la práctica del diseño se han transformado notablemente. Los diseñadores cuentan hoy con nuevas herramientas, formas de trabajo y productos, pero sobre todo, con nuevos escenarios de actuación. Entre estos escenarios destacan los de tipo educativo, es decir, los ambientes virtuales y los sistemas multimedia para el aprendizaje, cuyo uso cada vez es más extendido.

Este hecho supone una gran oportunidad para que el diseño muestre una vez más su vocación y compromiso social, pues como lo señala Chávez (2002) "Hay formas de inserción profesional que no pasan estrictamente por el mercado. Provienen de otro tipo de compromiso, de interés o de posibilidades organizativas de la población, que crean así otro tipo de campo de trabajo al diseñador", y la educación es, sin duda, una de las áreas más significativas en las que el diseño puede traducirse en un bien social.

El presente trabajo propone un conjunto de cinco funciones que competen al diseño en el contexto de los nuevos entornos de aprendizaje. Estas funciones se encuentran estructuradas en los siguientes cinco apartados.

Una de las mayores preocupaciones que tenemos los docentes es encontrar estrategias para conseguir captar la atención de nuestros alumnos y bajar la disrupción en el aula cuando les enseñamos algún contenido a nuestros alumnos. Y digo enseñamos, porque los que me leéis con asiduidad sabéis que establezco una distinción entre lo que se entiende por explicar y lo que se entiende por enseñar. Muchos docentes que centran sus clases más en explicar que en enseñar son los que con frecuencia presentan mayores dificultades a la hora de poder captar la atención de sus estudiantes. Es más, les culpan a ellos de no estar atentos a sus explicaciones cuando en muchos casos aquello que explicamos o cómo lo explicamos no reviste el menor interés para el alumno, bien porque le parece aburrido, bien porque no le encuentra ninguna utilidad.

The Flow Model in Learning

Flow is the mental state of operation in which a person performing an activity is fully immersed in a feeling of energized focus, full involvement, and enjoyment in the process of the activity.Positive psychologist, Mihaly Csíkszentmihályi, first introduced this Flow Model and wrote about it in his book “Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience.”

A flow state can be entered while performing any activity, although most likely when wholeheartedly performing a task or activity for intrinsic purposes. Flow theory suggests three conditions to be met in order to achieve a flow state:

  1. One must be involved in an activity with a clear set of goals and progress.
  2. The task at hand must have clear and immediate feedback.
  3. One must have a good balance between the perceived challenges of the task at hand and his/her own perceived skills.

This is a bit of an oversimplification which can lead to creating the ext educational fad. The book it is based on, Flow, is an easy read and fills in many blanks. Teachers, who choose to read the book, will recognize flow activities as they read. We have experienced them and experienced students experiencing them, as well as the alternatives.!

Yo le añadiría un elemento: Incorporar otras plataformas sociales multicontextuales que le den más vida y dinamismo al curso. Los educadores tenemos la costumbre de hacer de cada herramienta tecnológica una única plataforma de enseñanza. Es como congregarse siempre en la misma sala de clases, a la misma hora: muy predecible...

Lo que se comenta en este artículo es muy importante para garantizar la efectividad de un curso elearning. Todo aquel que desee diseñar y ejecutar un curso elearning de calidad debe poner especial atención a los estilos de aprendizaje y a los canales de acceso a la información (visual, auditivo y kinestésico).
