Teachers Guide to Teaching Using Social Media

Teachers Guide to Teaching Using Social Media | Educomunicación | Scoop.it

The growing popularity and the pervasive use of social networking websites among our teens and students is a fact we can no longer ignore.

Unfortunately, many school boards  still promulgate laws that inhibit access to these platforms in schools and thus missing on huge learning opportunities for students.

Instead of forcing an unwarranted ban on these media tools why not embrace them and turn them into learning hubs where our students can thrive academically.

Using social media in education has got such a huge potential and there are a variety of ways teachers and schools can leverage the networked power of these tools to help students achieve better.

Here are some of the ideas on how to use social media in class.

Emotion can work in B2B, if it's focused on the purchaser's feelings not about himself, but about the benefits accruing to the company.

Intermediate/ Digest...

More recently, according to a CEB/Motista Survey presented at Google's ThinkB2B event last year, emotional connections run deeper for b-to-b clients than business-to-consumer customers. They argued that b-to-b marketing must win over both the horse and its rider, whereas consumer marketing just needs the guy on the horse.

"Between 40% and 70% of customers feel emotionally connected to brands like Oracle, Accenture, FedEx, SAP, and Salesforce," their report continued, "compared with between 10% and 40% for CVS, L'Oreal, and Wal-Mart."

For those of us in a market or brand research role, let's work harder to help both the agency and marketer side find magnetic truths in what we should remember is still p-to-p marketing -- person to person.

I hope you don't have to ask and this site has demonstrated, this is the future of education. This demonstration would need to be expanded upon, but essentially, students would do much more of this to develop and quench a directed curiosity. Multiple paths are open to the answer, let the individual choose and enjoy their journey.

REVEALED: Why People Quit Twitter (And What Would Bring Them Back)

REVEALED: Why People Quit Twitter (And What Would Bring Them Back) | Educomunicación | Scoop.it

Why do people quit Twitter?

It’s an important and expansive question, both for Twitter today and their place as a business and social platform heading into the future. Twitter’s growth problem is well documented and if the company can’t keep hold of the users that they convince to sign up they’re in serious trouble. But with a monthly active user (MAU) uptake of just 2 percent in Q4 2013, something is seriously off.

So what’s the problem? Why do so many Twitter users fail to stick around, and what can they do to resolve this issue?

The Fascinating Neuroscience Of Color

The Fascinating Neuroscience Of Color | Educomunicación | Scoop.it

This seemingly simple area of study offers insights into all sorts of behavior - from attention to decision-making.

Neuroscientist Bevil Conway thinks about color for a living.

An artist since youth, Conway now spends much of his time studying vision and perception at Wellesley College and Harvard Medical School.

His science remains strongly linked to art - in 2004 he and Margaret Livingstone famously reported that Rembrandt may have suffered from flawed vision - and in recent years Conway has focused his research almost entirely on the neural machinery behind color.

Kathleen McClaskey's curator insight, March 20, 7:32 AM

An expert learner is a learner who is self-directed, self-regulated, motivated and engaged to learn. They have a purpose to learn something they are interested in. They are responsible and own their learning and monitor their progress. However, this doesn't just happen overnight or even all the time. Plus, learners may not be an expert on every concept, strategy or skill. So what we did was create a continuum to develop expert learners that provides the journey learners of all ages go through to build expertise.
