"Les médias en réseaux engendrent de nouveaux lieux dans lesquels se déploient les relations. Tout en y revêtant des caractéristiques liées à cette nouveauté, elles sont également indissociables de la socialisation en général.
A ce sujet, Antonio A. Casilli déconstruit trois idées reçues[1] par rapport à Internet. La première correspond à l’idée que « les internautes forcenés n’ont pas de relations sociales ». La seconde est qu’Internet, est un « territoire de la jeunesse ». Enfin, la troisième entend qu’« Internet est un monde à part, déconnecté du réel ». En fait, les réalités de l’espace physique et de l’espace numérique se nourrissent mutuellement."

“Level Up Learning” Captures State of Digital Games in Classroom | Educommunication | Scoop.it
Amid a boom in investment and experimentation with educational technologies in U.S. schools, digital games are gaining a strong foothold in the K-8 classroom, as teachers report incorporating video games in their curriculum  with  positive results. A national survey of nearly 700 U.S. K-8 teachers conducted by the Joan Ganz Cooney Center and the Games and Learning Publishing Council reveals that almost three-quarters of K-8 teachers are using digital games for instruction. Four out of five of those teachers report that their students play games at school at least once a month.

I am a proud geek and father of three young children. I taught myself to code Basic at the age of 12 on my father’s Commodore 64, and I actively encourage my children to be enthused by the notion of building with digital tools. But I don’t necessarily agree with the notion that every child must learn how to code.

Subjects such as religion, race, gender, sexuality and allegations of sexually explicit content or offensive language frequently top the list.

More worrying, however, is the recent rise in efforts to get books banned that cover poverty and social class. At a time when rising inequality and the demonisation of poorer people (both in the UK and the US) is commonplace, such attempts to remove books that depict the reality of life for people who are struggling should concern us all.

«Global citizenship assumes ease of participation in global spaces in which persons are media and information literate and are equipped with competencies and attitudes to deal with the multi-faceted nature of a mediated world in which information is no longer bound by space or time. The unprecedented access to and use of media and Internet technologies for communication and collaboration especially among youth, suggest that effective strategies must be found to enable active critical inquiry and effective media production. The proliferation of mediated spaces throughout education environments, as well as personal and professional environments, does not in itself guarantee that citizens will consider their role as global citizens as they create and consume media. This awareness must be cultivated, encouraged and taught.»

Literacía Cinematográfica: Reflexión sobre los modelos de educación cinematográfica en Europa | Educommunication | Scoop.it
Tomando como base un resumen amplio del “Estudio de Expertos a Escala Europea sobre literacía cinematográfica en Europa 2012” (European-scale Experts’ Study on film literacy in Europe 2012), este artículo examina las dos concepciones diferentes que se tienen de la educación cinematográfica en Europa: (a) como un derecho o un bien social para todos (similar al derecho a la educación universal) y (b) como un medio fundamental para desarrollar consumidores o audiencias de cine. En base al estudio antes mencionado, el cual fue llevado a cabo en 32 países europeos, los autores analizan tres aspectos de la “literacía cinematográfica” (film literacy) en Europa: (1) las prácticas de educadores de cine en los diferentes sectores educativos en los Estados miembros de la Unión Europea; (2) los argumentos más amplios sobre cultura cinematográfica y su importancia; y (3) la relación entre literacía cinematográfica y literacía mediática, especialmente en el contexto de la iniciativa de literacía mediática de la Comisión Europea. Finalmente, el artículo también examina la relación que existe entre la educación cinematográfica y las apropiaciones, recomendaciones, limitaciones y concepciones erróneas que rodean las tecnologías digitales.
