Or, l’imprévisibilité fournit une indication historique précieuse. Au contraire de l’automobile, de l’aviation ou de la télévision, qui s’inscrivent dans le prolongement de la voiture attelée, de la navigation ou de la radio, le développement d’innovations comme la photographie, le cinéma ou le disque dépend de mécanismes appropriatifs où les choix des usagers ont joué un rôle majeur. Il en va de même de l’image conversationnelle, produit inattendu de la rencontre de la numérisation des contenus visuels.»

"Dans le cadre du projet Jeunes-Journalistes, un outil pédagogiques d'éducation aux médias s'adressant aux jeunes à partir de 14 ans ont été réalisés. Cet outil se compose de 4 cahiers de 16 pages et permettent de découvrir petit à petit l'univers médiatique, du métier de journaliste à la rédaction d'un article en passant par le droit d'auteur, la déontologie, l'importance d'une image, etc. Chaque cahier (que vous pouvez télécharger en format pdf en cliquant sur son titre ci-dessous) aborde un thème différent. Si ces différents cahiers aborde essentiellement les médias papiers et la presse en ligne, certains aspects plus particuliers concernant les médias audio-visuels sont également abordés. De plus, chaque point abordé est accompagné d'exemples et/ou d'exercices que chacun peut réaliser afin de confronter la théorie à la réalité."

We have to see that for some students, technology actually can provide them the voice that they have never had before.  I spoke to one student that said the use of social media actually inspired them to start speaking publicly because they developed confidence through a medium that worked for them.  I think of how many students would benefit and feel more comfortable talking in public when they would be allowed to use a medium that works for them first.

Report: "Children are growing up in a convergent media ecology"

"Both childhood and the media environment are changing and co-determining each other (Livingstone, 2009). Children are growing up in a convergent media ecology (Ito et al., 2009), whereby significant opportunities for sociability, self-expression, learning, creativity and participation are provided by online media and increasingly, mobile media (Hjorth & Goggin, 2009; Goggin 2010). However, children may also experience risks on the internet: since 2006, the EU Kids Online network has investigated online opportunities and risks for children, showing their interdependence (Livingstone et al., 2011): the more children use the internet, the wider range of opportunities taken up, the more they are exposed to risky experiences. The changing conditions of internet access by means of mobile media call for new research on children's online experiences, opportunities and risks of the mobile internet."
