«Global citizenship assumes ease of participation in global spaces in which persons are media and information literate and are equipped with competencies and attitudes to deal with the multi-faceted nature of a mediated world in which information is no longer bound by space or time. The unprecedented access to and use of media and Internet technologies for communication and collaboration especially among youth, suggest that effective strategies must be found to enable active critical inquiry and effective media production. The proliferation of mediated spaces throughout education environments, as well as personal and professional environments, does not in itself guarantee that citizens will consider their role as global citizens as they create and consume media. This awareness must be cultivated, encouraged and taught.»

"A partir da emergência de novas tecnologias, interessa estudar que comportamentos  usos da audiência estão surgindo. Especialmente, no que tange aos jovens, já qu podem ser considerados “embaixadores” da inovação tecnológica. Assim, propõe-s um estudo comparativo sobre a relação desse público com o rádio no Brasil e e Portugal. Neste artigo, especificamente, a intenção é delinear as possíveis nova formas de ouvir rádio desempenhadas pelos adolescentes em ambos os países: se ele ainda ouvem rádio, que plataformas são utilizadas, quais suas preferências, qu conteúdos ouvem, entre outras questões. É importante frisar que os resultado apresentados aqui são apenas parte de uma pesquisa mais ampla sobre a relação do jovens com o rádio em um cenário de convergência midiática.

Jovens e culturas cívicas: Por entre formas de consumo noticioso e de participação | Educommunication | Scoop.it
Para melhor compreender as dinâmicas que os jovens, muito em particular os portugueses, evidenciam em relação à participação e ao jornalismo – tentando escapar às visões reducionistas que meramente apontam para um afastamento –, lançámo-nos no desafio de melhor perceber os contextos de ação, os seus moldes e os seus propósitos. Estas matérias foram alvo de reflexão através de um estudo de caso longitudinal (2010-2012), realizado com 35 jovens com formas de participação diferenciadas, na intensidade e na diversidade, e com distintas proveniências sociais, culturais e económicas.

O corpus permitiu melhor apreender e compreender contextos específicos e chegar a perfis quanto ao consumo de notícias (inclusive de política) e quanto à participação.

As tipologias apontam para uma realidade complexa, em que são marcantes os fatores familiares, os contextos sociais mais vastos e a vontade individual.

O Prefácio é assinado por Peter Dahlgren, professor emérito da Universidade de Lund, na Suécia, e um dos mais conceituados estudiosos das dinâmicas do jornalismo e das culturas cívicas, muito em especial entre os jovens.

«La loi de refondation de l'école du 8 juillet 2013 inscrit l'EMI (Éducation aux médias et à l'information) comme obligatoire au collège. [Sa] définition ancre clairement l'EMI dans la construction de la citoyenneté: «Permettre aux élèves d'exercer leur citoyenneté dans une société de l'information et de la communication, former des cybercitoyens actifs, éclairés et responsables de demain, tel est l'objectif de la relance d'une éducation aux médias et à l'information. Lecture critique et distanciée, capacité à publier, produire de l'information, s'informer, cela relève d'une pratique citoyenne des médias qui nécessite le développement de compétences info-documentaires et une initiation aux langages et formes médiatiques.»

For many years, I have hosted a web page, Using Super Bowl Ads In The Classroom, because I wanted to help educators who haven’t thought about using these popular culture texts in instruction.

You might notice that I use the word “texts.” TV and other video commercials should be considered as texts because the present information that students can learn to scrutinize closely (analyze) and deconstruct. In fact, the National Council of Teachers of English (NCTE) has long recommended that teachers include “non-print” texts in the classroom.

The British broadcaster released a new report looking at the future of news as it looks toward its royal charter renewal in 2017.

"“The internet is not keeping everyone informed, nor will it: it is, in fact, magnifying problems of information inequality, misinformation, polarisation and disengagement,” the report says. “Our job is keeping everyone informed. To do this, BBC News is going to have to start thinking how it is going to deliver on its mission to inform in an age beyond broadcasting.”

On parle de nouveau, et c'est tant mieux, d'éducation aux médias. C'est à l'évidence une nécessité. Mais il ne faudrait pas en rester à des propos généraux. L'éducation aux médias doit partir d'une analyse des images et des sons, du récit, et aller vers l'éthique. Elle doit aussi se pencher sur l'actualité. C'est ce que j'ai essayé de faire dans cet article publié sur INA Global.

Young users and the digital divide: readers, participants or creators on Internet?

This article analyses how young people, parents and teachers perceive the uses of digital tools and environments made by those known as digital natives. The research combines analysis of an extensive bibliography on the subject with the results of field research based on 30 focus groups, involving 120 youngsters and 60 adults in five Spanish cities, within the framework of a national study. The results show that while adults consider that young people use technological tools in complex ways directed towards content creation, teenagers perceive themselves as mainly readers and participants on the Net.
