Twitter for Digital Citizenship

I have been a longtime advocate for using Twitter in education, in fact, it was more than three years ago now when I started using Twitter to model and teach authentic global digital citizenship. It has been almost two years since this article was published in The Age, celebrating the positives use of such a tool in a variety of educational contexts.

Dix ans auront suffi au réseau social cofondé par Mark Zuckerberg pour rallier plus d'un milliard de membres actifs et devenir... une incontournable machine à cash publicitaire. Le célèbre site doit à la fois éviter la potentielle désaffection de ses « amis » et contrer la montée en puissance de Twitter, qui convoite aussi le gâteau publicitaire des médias sociaux (9,5 milliards de dollars en 2013), croqué aujourd'hui à plus des deux tiers par Facebook.

Facebook: "La publicité représente 90 % du chiffre d'affaires de Facebook, les micropaiements liés aux jeux ayant tendance à plafonner. Chaque « ami » lui rapporte 2,14 dollars (c'est le revenu moyen par utilisateur au quatrième trimestre), dont 1,94 dollar de recettes pub."
