If it was bath salts or methamphetamine I wonder if the reporting and response would have been the same?

Far worse cruelty to animals occurs on a near daily basis under the social intoxicant, ethyl alcohol. And even worse is commited against fellow human beings..... but no calls to ban the drug? Hell, it goes unnoticed. Speak no evil, hear no evil, see no evil than the evil we desire.....

How Colleges Are Preparing Students for a Country Where Pot Is Legal | Educators For Sensible Drug Policy (NZ) | Scoop.it
Students and professors across the country are exploring the complex economic, sociological, and legal questions raised by legalizing cannabis.  (Interesting. A college-level course on marijuana.
MildGreen Initiative's insight:

With colonisation driven by drug policy and post WWI politics defined by social policy of control (prohibitions) as a driver of crime and prejudice modern history is inseparable from the context of what  drugs people do and how it influences culture. It should be taught that way.... Anything else is just puerile dishonesty.

Shane Jones in row over cannabis
Taranaki Daily News
Labour MP Shane Jones has been told off by the Ratana Church for becoming embroiled in a row over the legalisation of marijuana during last week's celebrations.
MildGreen Initiative's insight:

Good on Shane, moral guardian and mentor to Maori..... except the statistics show otherwise. The law doesnt protect Maori, it targets them.

More fool him and anyone who would follow his church of prohibition.

Petition to legalize marijuana tops White House list | Educators For Sensible Drug Policy (NZ) | Scoop.it

Legalizing marijuana is the top issue on the White House's "We the People" site, far outpacing other online petition requests, a review indicated.

LETS pretend youth dont get the legitimacy of the cannabis debate and the ageist prejudice that it suppression masks.  It is a debate that Socrates wouldnt have shied from! Would should teachers, educators and parents deny justice and equity? / Blair
