How Do We Teach Critical Thinking in a Connected World? | Powerful Learning Practice | educationideas | Scoop.it

Looking back now, I realize something I never understood then — what he had instilled was an ability to think critically. Along with creativity, collaboration, and communication, critical thinking is one of the four components of learning in the 21st century. Unlike the other three, critical thinking is often difficult to reduce to bite-size pieces of understanding and challenging to teach to others.

Today, computer involment in classroom is immence. We have e-learning lesson plans, enhahced with WEB.2 tools for immediate reaction. I know I have created a rich learning event when all my students are engaged in arguing about the best approach to the assignment. When we use questions and problems that allow for multiple strategies to reach a successful outcome, then we can speak that we gave students the opportunity to make choices and then compare their approaches. This strategy challenges them to operate at a higher level of thinking than when they can share only the "correct" answer. And this is only possible in class.

Stages of Personalized Learning Environments | Bray & McClaskey | educationideas | Scoop.it
Personalizing learning for all learners means understanding the different stages of personalized learning environments (PLE). Stage One is teacher-centered with learner voice and choice. Stage Two is when teachers co-design learning with the learners. Stage Three is when learners design and drive their own learning.
