Teacher vs Student: How Each Actually Uses Social Media

Teacher vs Student: How Each Actually Uses Social Media | Educational Technology | Scoop.it

Both teachers and students use it pretty actively, and it can easily be used in the classroom. Do you agree? What do you think is the most ‘all-around’ social media platform for both teachers and students (in and out of class)?

This article is interesting and should be top of mind for any training organisation that wants to employ social media in the delivery of it's training programs.

I have been working with the use of technology in the delivery and management of education and training programs since the late 80's and am constantly amazed by my 7 year old grandson as he goes about do things like logging onto the Leggo website to access a plan so as he can build a new "something" in Leggo etc.

Using E-Portfolios in the Classroom

Using E-Portfolios in the Classroom | Educational Technology | Scoop.it

With more and more schools going paperless or migrating to the "cloud" (storing files on the Internet), student work has become more easily shareable, accessible by many, and more easily organized. Many teachers have turned to digital portfolios -- or "e-portfolios" -- for their students. These digital portfolios have caused a huge shift in how teachers assign, collect and assess student classwork and projects.

Impressive, Ludmilla!! Love PBworks as well.
Rebecca Delabrer's curator insight, October 5, 2014 9:45 PM

This article describes how student's work in school used to be more private and usually only seen by the teacher if it was done on paper. Now that schools are resorting to "paperless" classrooms, children's work is becoming much more easy to share and find and other things.

I don't think schools should go paperless. The internet is a dangerous place, especially for dumb kids our age. Not only that but the internet allows kids to cheat a lot easier than they already do now so it's promoting cheating indirectly.

Resources on e-portfolios

Resources on e-portfolios | Educational Technology | Scoop.it

In education, a ‘portfolio’ refers to a personal collection of information describing, documenting and recording a person’s achievements and learning. Portfolios are used for many different purposes such as a tool for evaluating leaning, for accreditation of prior experience, for continuing professional development, to assist a job application, or for a certification of competences acquired through a course or from work experience . An educational portfolio is mainly used to encourage personal reflection and involves the exchange of ideas and feedback. Many people have already used some kind of portfolio. Most of them have built a portfolio to collect evidence required to get certificates or to show what they have learned in a concrete situation or training. The development of information and learning technologies has led to the development of digital portfolios or electronic portfolios, commonly referred as e-Portfolios".

7 Ways To Create E-Portfolios

7 Ways To Create E-Portfolios | Educational Technology | Scoop.it

E-portfolios are becoming standard practice for academics, students, and professionals and typically include examples of skills and achievements, as well as a reflective blog element. E-portfolios can be developed in a variety of ways, from simple (and free) blogging platforms, to modules in learning management systems, to dedicated software programs and services. Many colleges and universities offer their own e-portfolio services to students, be they proprietary or licensed through an outside provider.
