Teachers will now be able to search for and recommend learning content by category, grade level, and a variety of other criteria, and will have the opportunity to discover content recommended by other educators, for example. What’s more, every piece of content served within its curated portal is pre-approved by educators before being posted, so that teachers can rest easy knowing the recommended content is quality and school-appropriate.

Westerly Public Schools wants to deliver anytime, anywhere access to applications through virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) technology, and plans are in the works to make that happen by next year. The Rhode Island district began deploying virtual machines in 2008, says Mark Lamson, director of technology. Because its thin client manufacturer has gone out of business, Westerly is now testing VMware View.

The only state to provide laptops to public school students statewide on March 14 said the contract it's negotiating for new mobile learning devices can be used by other states if they're interested in following suit.
" The ability for classrooms to beam in authors, subject experts, and fellow students from around the world has been one of the great advantages afforded by Skype. Commonly used by librarians and other K–12 educators to provide real-time engagement for their students, the service just got better. As of today, existing members of Skype in the classroom or new registrants can use Skype’s Group Video Calling free of charge."

Middle school math teacher Tara Maynard (@tmaynard5) has been using iBooks Author to create media-rich, interactive books for her algebra and geometry students for the better part of this year. Her books contain guiding questions for students to focus on as they explore the pages filled with short video tutorials, student-friendly text, formative assessments that give immediate feedback, and interactive widgets for determining patterns and relationships. She will tell you this has been an incredible tool for student learning and is increasing student achievement.
