Make all voices heard, make decisions (from your gut based on experience and knowledge), clear expectations, challenge thinking in staff (growth mindset), accountability with peers, lead by example, measure and acknowledge/reward performance, provide continuous feedback, allocating talents and deploying action plans, asking questions and finding answers, problem solving & not procrastinating, being a great teacher, investing in relationships, having a positive energy and attitude and genuinely enjoying leadership responsibilities. This is one of the better models I have come across. It presupposes a level of professionalism that is refreshing and notes the flexibility required of a teacher to connect with young people.
Stephen Gwilliam's curator insight, May 20, 2013 8:02 AM

If you had your staff audit themselves and how they saw their peers would you have congruence?  Where is your staff along a continuum in relation to the 8 characteristics? What are you going to stop and start doing?
