What Makes a Great Leadership Team?

What Makes a Great Leadership Team? | educational leadership and vision | Scoop.it
One of the core principles of strengths management is that people don’t need to be well-rounded to succeed. It helps, however, if teams are well-rounded, say the authors of Strengths Based Leadership.

Phillip Heath's insight:

A helpful article. Leadership is not about having all the ideas. It's about harmonising a team of minds to deliver a vision, a compelling and inspiring aspiration for the future.

My experiences would sugegst this notion is worthy of consideration. The strength of good team requires diveristy of skills within it and is able to 'hang together' with some creative tension to achieve agreed goals.

Can tradition and change co- exist? Being a school leader requires a deep understanding and  appreciation for tradition ( think school culture)  while also being able to assess the myriad changes and expectations being thrust on education.

4 Innovative Libraries Transforming Lives Around the World

4 Innovative Libraries Transforming Lives Around the World | educational leadership and vision | Scoop.it
Only about a third of the world's population has access to the internet. Here in the United States, libraries have become a major source of Internet access for people who otherwise can't afford computers or net access -- and the same goes for libraries around the world. Giving people access to the Internet in a public setting doesn't mean handing them a free pass to infinite animated GIFs; it means jobs, health information, and education.

Say What? 5 Ways to Get Students to Listen

Say What? 5 Ways to Get Students to Listen | educational leadership and vision | Scoop.it
Ah, listening, the neglected literacy skill. I know when I was a high school English teacher this was not necessarily a primary focus; I was too busy honing the more measurable literacy skills -- reading, writing, and speaking. But when we think about career and college readiness, listening skills are just as important. This is evidenced by the listening standards found in the Common Core and also the integral role listening plays in collaboration and communication, two of the four Cs of 21st century learning.

10 Great Resources on 21st Century Education |Educational Technology & Mobile Learning | educational leadership and vision | Scoop.it
I believe the 21st century education is idiosyncratic in nature. It has acquired some distinctive features that sets it apart from the kind of traditional education that was prevalent in the 20th century. Of course it does not take you long to guess the reason behind this change , digital revolution has and is still radically transforming the way learning and instruction is delivered.

How Good Teachers Carefully Decenter Themselves - Grant Wiggins - TeachThought

How Good Teachers Carefully Decenter Themselves - Grant Wiggins - TeachThought | educational leadership and vision | Scoop.it
"As teachers we understandably believe that it is the ‘teaching’ that causes learning. But this is too egocentric a formulation. As I said in my previous post, the learner’s attempts to learn causes all learning. The teaching is a stimulus; the attempted learning (or lack of it) is the response. No matter what the teacher says or does, the learner has to engage with and process the ‘teaching’ if learning is to happen."
