This seems to be one of the microblogging platforms of choice for teens at the moment. It centres around creative expression and although you can use it through the browser it has been designed for use on mobile. Great for creating video, audio and image up dates. Very nicely designed platform.

I think it is so exciting to teach English pedagogy through multimedia. New Literacies as they call it, is so innovative and truly allows a student to make deeper, more menaingful connections from what they already know to what they are working towards learning. Knowledge is only power when you can use it and apply it as you share what you know with others!

Drum roll, please! iPad drummer rocks with fast fingers | Cult of Mac | educational help | Scoop.it
When I was a kid, I wanted to be a drummer. When it came time to assign instruments in elementary school, I started on a practice drumming pad.

The music teacher never let me graduate to a real drum because he knew what he was hearing on the rubber pad would be a disaster on a simple snare. But an aspiring drummer in Japan has mastered the pad — the iPad, that is. His fast-moving fingers earned him the title of “sickest drummer in metal right now” on Digg.

These texts can be downloaded and are aimed at varying literacy levels. The topics are broad and can be used to promote critical thinking. In an ELT context they could be used to form the basis of discussions. The text worksheets also contain questions to encourage reflection and debate.

Free Technology for Teachers: Two Free Google Apps that Bring Out the Best In an iPad

Free Technology for Teachers: Two Free Google Apps that Bring Out the Best In an iPad | educational help | Scoop.it

"Many of us using technology in the classroom find ourselves caught between two worlds: Apple and Google. Apple’s iPad is a fantastic tool in the classroom which provides students with various opportunities to consume, create, and communicate. Similar to a swiss-army knife, it is only limited by how we choose to use it. At the same time, Google apps provide students with cloud-based services, from search to document creation and sharing, that work seamlessly on iPad."
