Techniques 4: Most marketers stick to obvious social media sites like Twitter and Facebook, but they aren't going towards others like Google+, Quora, or Pinterest. Also, you need to track how well your social media marketing is doing, rather than just putting it out there and assuming it is doing well.

1. Marketing majors learn how to discover the special something that people want and how to convince them that their product has it. Must be able to compete in an internship, research foreign shopping habits, study past advertising campaigns, understand pricing, and why people buy the things they do.

In the Marketing business, it is important to be a good leader and someone who works well with others. You must be able to understand people and have strong writing and speaking skills. Marketing Managers follow the "four P's" of marketing, which as product, price, promotion, and place.

You must be able to plan ahead in the marketing business. Procrastinating is not an option. If your marketing team is rushed at the last minute, many mistakes will be made, or things will be overlooked. Getting things done ahead of time will make sure you have plenty of time to make adjustments before absolutely necessary.
Shannon Connelly's comment, March 18, 2014 12:26 PM
Make sure you are branding companies uniquely. Don't use the same strategies over and over. Come up with new ideas that will make your brand stand out from others. Also make sure to keep up with the competition.
Shannon Connelly's comment, March 18, 2014 12:27 PM
A good way to make sure your brand is good, get input from everyone. That way you know if it is really good or if it is only you that is seeing it that way. The more people you get opinions from, the better it is likely to be.

Why Facebook Is Blue: The Science of Colors in Marketing - - The Buffer Blog

Why Facebook Is Blue: The Science of Colors in Marketing - - The Buffer Blog | Education, Training, & Skills Required for Marketing Manager ; Marketing Techniques | Scoop.it
How do colors affect us when we buy things?

Techniques 1: Colors are an important part of marketing. Yellow is used to grab window shoppers' attention. Red creates urgency and is typically used for clearance sales. Blue gives off trust and security, which is why it is used with banks and businesses. Green is thought to be wealthy and is also the easiest color for our eyes to see, so it is used for relaxation. Orange is trying to grab attention so it's used for subscriptions, buying, or selling. Pink is feminine, so it is used for marketing towards females. Black is sleep and is often used in marketing for luxury products. Purple is usually soothing or calming and is used for beauty products.
Shannon Connelly's comment, April 7, 2014 12:36 PM
Techniques 2: When marketing towards a specific gender, it is important to pay attention to which colors attract which gender. Women are attracted to blues, purples, and greens. They typically are repelled by orange, brown, and gray. Men are attracted to blue, green, and black. They are repelled by brown, orange, and purple. So, in both cases, brown and orange are not colors you would want to necessarily use when marketing.
Shannon Connelly's comment, April 7, 2014 12:39 PM
Techniques 3: Something as simple as color can drastically change the outcome and effectiveness of the marketing. For example, research suggests that if everything on two pages were exactly the same other than the color of a button (red vs green), the green button would be chosen more often. However, after experimenting, it proved to be the opposite, and red was clicked 21% more. In my opinion, it is because the red stands out much more than the green. That is something to consider when creating a marketing campaign, and how colors will effect it.

A good way to make connections as well as earn some experience would be to find an internship. Internships could give you computer and/or foreign language skills that will give you an advantage for some positions.

It is important to connect with marketing professionals while getting an education. You could also join professional associations to network. An example would be the American Marketing Association.

However, if you want to open up opportunities for advancement, it would be a good idea to carry on to get a Master's degree in Business Administration Marketing. This degree will help decision-making skills and help to become a more effective manager
