Patricia Stitson's insight:

In the last few years, I have so often found myself in groups of 'like-minded' people, whether that be a small local group of social entrepreneurial women or the famed TEDx community.

The harsh reality that we so often overlook is that the future success of humanity lays in the ways that we learn to collaborate and, yes cooperate with 'not-like-minded' individuals AND groups.

Storytelling, and listening to stories, is a crucial component of the growth of collaboration. We need to re-integrate the importance of storytelling into the fabric of our schools, organizations, and communities. Through coaching some kids to give TEDx talks, I learned a wonderful lesson. The act of storytelling empowers a youth to believe in their ability not only to tell their story but to create the story of their lives.

Today's classrooms are experiencing a shift unlike any we have seen before. Tech savvy kids are often having to use outdated equipment and some have skills well beyond those of their teachers. I love this idea of enabling students to utilise digital storytelling as a way to show and share their learning! Developing subject matter expertise as well as storytelling , project planning and collaboration skills is beneficial not only to their immediate learning needs but are key skills for their futures. Putting the learning into the hands of the students through technology AND storytelling?  Seems like a marvellous idea to me!

Trasformar euna presentazione in una storia da raccontare: lo sforzo più complesso!

Nathan Schultz's curator insight, November 25, 2015 4:22 PM

This presentations clearly explains what makes a good story - you need to devise conflict, develop characters and add efficient details.  I enjoy this presentation because it explains the details of storywriting with a variety of interesting visuals, which makes it more entertaining to read.
